• Re: Ordering media in chronology, not by type and folder

I believe I have found a solution. I am a software developer, and unfortunately for all, it requires a custom application:Name all media with a base name such as YYYYMMDDhhmmss.ext This is where the custom app is required, to take and base this rename upon the date taken. This requires accessing media metadata, and so can be a bit tricky. In ...

  • How? L-Cuts & J-Cuts

This has probably been asked, but I looked and could not find it. In fact when I search it always matches on Pinnacle Studio, and the answer is to lock the audio track before doing a cut. Can't see how to lock audio independently in Avid Studio. The best I've been able to figure is to split a clip, drag a portion to another track (which always ...

  • Re: Avid Library refresh

I've noticed this as well. I don't know what causes it. A few times it has taken a couple of days for sub-folders of watch folders to appear in the library. Sometimes a half hour. Starting and stopping AS doesn't help. I don't know exactly what makes it finally take. Generally though the amount of new media makes a difference, or perhaps the ...

  • Ordering media in chronology, not by type and folder

I take video on two cameras throughout the year, plus one takes photos. Plus another still camera, plus media given to me by others. The challenge some months afterward is to try to sort all the media, of all types, from several folders into the chronology of the order each was taken into a single movie project timeline. The library tends to work ...

  • Re: Q - Help with FADE fundamentals

Your explanation makes perfect sense. I had routinely been adding the transition to the second clip, and getting results consistent with what you explained. I did check the PDF but did not find this nuance covered. I'll go back and look again. If it's not there it should be. Thanks Richard!

  • Re: Avid Studio and combining scenes on the timeline.

Not sure the reason for wanting to combine, but the same effect of this can be achieved making a sub-movie. Make a move with the two clips side by side, and save, and pull this movie project into your master timeline. Actually this is hugely more powerful than Pinnacle, because you can do MORE than combine to clips in the sub-movie, ...

  • Q - Help with FADE fundamentals

When stringing together a number of video clips, and very simply applying a simple transition with the mouse on the time line there seems to be 2 effects, and 3 indicators: Effects:Prior video continues motion while fading out, and next video is in motion while fading inPrior video freezes on last frame while fading out, and next video is in ...

I was referred to someone who has done some work here, but no reply yet from the author on where he found resources.

  • Let us develop plugins filters and transitions

An SDK for Avid Studio would be greatly appreciated by us coders. I have ideas and tools, I just can not act without some information.

  • Re: Export for BD hangs

Promised I would report back. I had to deliver both DVD and apologies. DVD works very well, and reliably. I can't seem to get a BD out of the system. I'll not promise it again until I see it actually work.
