Your explanation makes perfect sense.  I had routinely been adding the transition to the second clip, and getting results consistent with what you explained. I did check the PDF but did not find this nuance covered. I'll go back and look again. If it's not there it should be. Thanks Richard!

Not sure the reason for wanting to combine, but the same effect of this can be achieved making a sub-movie.  Make a move with the two clips side by side, and save, and pull this movie project into your master timeline.  Actually this is hugely more powerful than Pinnacle, because you can do MORE than combine to clips in the sub-movie, ...

An SDK for Avid Studio would be greatly appreciated by us coders. I have ideas and tools, I just can not act without some information.

Promised I would report back. I had to deliver both DVD and apologies. DVD works very well, and reliably.  I can't seem to get a BD out of the system. I'll not promise it again until I see it actually work.
