I downloaded the 400-page PDF manual and printed the Index and Table of Contents and put it in a binder. Now, if the PDF of the manual has something useful to say on my problem, I print that out and put it in a binder. I don;t print out much.
The manual is, ah, not very good.

Very interesting, Mike. I don't have exactly your needs, but I see what you're up to. When I go back to hunt for footage from my old AVI files to include in a new project, I do have to scrub through the whole ancient capture. And since I don't necessarily shoot in sequence, story points are hard to find.
The problem of storing ...

I was confounded by the Pinnancle Help Manual description of split editing. Maybe it's me. It would be useful if someone knowledgeable, adopting the assumptions of a newcomer, could simply follow the instructions as I tried to and see if they work, and if they achieve synchronized sound and video.
I ...

As a new user of Pinn12 I just had this problem. To solve it:
Go through the preview until the point when out-of-synch appears. That's the scene which caused the problem. Undo any edits and the project should now play in synch. If you made more than one faulty edits, continue on the timeline and undo them as they ...

What is the argument for not using automatic detection of scenes?
Also, what is the point at which saving video causes loss of quality? Is it the rendering to DVD format or other type of different file?
Is Towbar's point that he likes to save original avi files, and this is a way to cut down the overall size? Or am I missing the ...

I don't know much, but I save only all my captures and final published videos on two external hard drives (''My Book home edition 500 gig'', a very confusing product).
One drive is hooked to the computer and gets weekly scheduled updates, the other is safe in a box--the master archive . Periodically I grit my teeth, close my ...

Thanks, you were correct. I upgraded monitor and graphics card and can now resize the preview panel. I'm at 1920 x 1080 resolution. (Strange that the phrase ''scalable'''' does not appear in any help topic or the index to the 400-page PDF manual.)
Unfortunately, as a result of today's upgrade installations I'm now struggling with an ...

Sorry, I can't find this in the manual or search function.
How can I resize the preview screen and other modules?
I would especially like to be able to vertically expand the audio trcks so as to see the waveform better for editing.
Thanks

With some embarassment I report that have found the problem--and it is not worthy.
Codec? Import? Algorithm? Bug? Need a new computer? Need a new camera?
No, need a new brain.
Although miniDv tapes are reusable, there's a limit. I traced the origin of the artifacts to recording over the same tape many times--maybe 5 to 10 times. Put a new ...

These are 1-5 minute test discs. DV-AVI (interlaced).
Now I discover that I can avoid the artifacts by doing a fresh capture to Pinnacle from the original miniDV tape. The resulting Pinnacle DVD is fine.
Therefore, the problem must be in the import (capture) using Window Movie Maker, do you agree? Any .AVI files created that way ...
