Thanks all. Amazing there are no simple fade-in or fade-out transitions.

The standard transition fades out and in. I want to either fade out OR fade in (in the middle of a project). Probably easy, but I couldn't find it in Search.
Thanks

When I construct a complicated scene, with cutaways, split edits, effects, I save it as an .avi file as soon as its finished. If you've worked for hours on a 2-minute segment, only can you sleep at night.
[For new learners--the ''why'': If you do a long edit in a project file (the normal file you use to edit your movie), it's ...

Regarding ''preparing'' stills: I recall seeing a screen in Pinn Studio 12 asking me what resolution I want to choose for imported photographs. Is there such a setting? Can you direct me to it?
Also, once a photo is in the timeline, is there a way to confirm or check its resolution?
I'm doing a mixed stills/video project in 16:9, will be ...

Yes. I replaced an Nvidia 6150 which was built into the motherboard of my stock Gateway desktop. The Radeon card allows me to resize the preview window (I couldn;t see the slider before). I can't say if the card was the best or even a good choice, but it was inexpensive.

Rick,
I'm new to Pinnacle, starting with 12.1 At first I had the same experience. Actually, I assumed the start and end frame previews were supposed to remain static. (I could not figure out why anybody would bother to use the properties pane).
Then I upgraded my video card. ...

I'll spare everybody my personal confusion, which just takes too long to describe. Basically, I concluded that the way to make an L-cut is simply to put two clips together, lock the audio track, trim back the left video clip, slide the right video clip left to meet it, and then unlock the audio track.
However, when I ...

The tip about having the manual open in another window is a good one. Some of us prefer paper, for making corrections and notes and thinking through steps ten times.
It's much harder to write a manual than anyone realizes, since learners , especially new learners, perceive their problem in differnt terms (and often are asking ...

I downloaded the 400-page PDF manual and printed the Index and Table of Contents and put it in a binder. Now, if the PDF of the manual has something useful to say on my problem, I print that out and put it in a binder. I don;t print out much.
The manual is, ah, not very good.

Very interesting, Mike. I don't have exactly your needs, but I see what you're up to. When I go back to hunt for footage from my old AVI files to include in a new project, I do have to scrub through the whole ancient capture. And since I don't necessarily shoot in sequence, story points are hard to find.
The problem of storing ...
