the investment is unlikey to reap a profit.
Agreed.
I use both Final Cut Pro and Avid Media Composer. Although, I'm more of an Avid and Pinnacle fan, I've always found my experiences with Mac to be relatively smooth. With Windows, there always seems to be some gritty technical problem that I have to fix before I can move on. I'm not ...

Of course, but isn't the actual rendering process done by the CPU? It was just recently that hardware engineers were able to rout dedicated video rendering to the video card itself, only problem being that your video card needs to either be dual GPU or have a separate microprocessor on board. With basic editing (without effects), the video card is ...

There's a few Microsoft ''I'm a PC'' commercials that are really started to annoy me.
Firstly, there's one where a self-proclaimed ''filmmaker'' looks for a Windows-specific laptop for video editing, and, on the online version, you can see her using Windows Movie Maker. I don't even know where to start. To me, it looks like Microsoft is trying to ...

I know Avid made the bi-platform switch a long time ago, but what about Studio? I mean, considering Mac is optimized for video, you'd think everyone would be dipping their feet into the Mac pool. And frankly, I don't see why the professional video market even started using Windows. Even back in the day when digital video editing was considered ...

Same here.
This reminds me of the 512 byte .avi problem in S10. On every machine I had, with every copy of S10, it would save 300+ MB .avi files as 512 bytes. Regardless, the files still seemed to work in Studio no problem. On the other hand, WMP wouldn't bother even trying to open the things. I wonder if there's a distant relation.
It ...

Kawboy:
Dan, you don't mention the video card in your post. S12 uses the video card intensively, and that's usually the 'show stopper' for a laptop. My GUESS at this point, is that it would probably run, but I wouldn't make any bets on the performance...
I thought only GPU rendered effects use the video card. I'm almost ...

To throw in my 2 cents, I highly doubt Pinnacle will be releasing a new version of Studio anytime soon, so your S12 choice is a good one! Then again, even if Pinnacle were to release a new version of Studio, they wouldn't tell us until the day of its release. Not to mention, they almost never seem to listen to us - the most frequent Studio users! ...

Thanks guys, I added the updates. Let's hope that someone from Pinnacle actually takes a look at this. I mean, this should encourage them to do at least something, right?
How does Pinnacle expect to compete with the competition when they're not listening to what their most frequent users suggest?
I really hope someone from the Pinnacle team ...

(It might be nice for a mod to sticky this so we can diminish duplicate threads)
After roaming around the forums for a while, I've been writing down and recording features that come up frequently in conversations. I'm not here to judge which ones go through, but these seem to be the top ones. Here's a clean list of *some* of the more popular ...

This seems like it's more of a profile problem than a Studio problem. A good example of this is when encoding audio, mp3 files only allow a maximum bitrate of 320 Kbps. When it comes to video though, there are rarely strict guidelines beyond the obvious. But with the 3GP format, I really don't think the profile will allow such high quality audio, ...
