I had the same problem.  I have found that I am only successfull when recording directly to my computer drive.  Any time I record to a perifrial, I get the delay.  Since I do not have a large enough hard drive to capture much video, I then transfer the files from my c drive to my external hard drive.  Once I have my movie ...
