I did not create the transitions from scratch (sorry for the misleading term), but simply inserted them into the project from the existing catalogue of transitions.  In the album of transitions seen in studio, I see the odd watermark. Go to: Start / All Progs / Pinnacle Hollywood FX for Studio 6 / Enter your Plus or PRO Serial Number.   Did you do the above? Yes.  And to clarify what hfx pkg I have: I had previously bought hfx mega.

was this during edit or make movie that you are getting this frame rate problem? i get this in EDIT, but on make movie it usually does not present itself.

I am looking at motherboards with a 1394 port and they all say they have a 6 pin (1394 a) port, but my cam has a 4 pin jack.

thanks for getting back. to be clear: if the motherboard has a 1394 port, and I connect my d camcorder to it, will pinnacle recognize and be able to capture from it? more research has revealed to me that a 1394 a port is 6 pin 1394. what pin wd a sony d8 that I have, have?  

or does pinnacle need its own (pci) capture card to capture SD content? also, what is a 1394 a port?

I see that the avchd format is encoded in mpeg4. I thought that the quality of mpeg 4  is less than steller--  more compression, more lossy, the format I select when I am going to youtube. But I also assume that HD is BETTER quality. please clarify - is the quality of avchd better than an avi?
