I thought I'd add my findings to this thread. I've been using Studio 11 for almost a year and for the most part I've been pretty happy with it. No odd crashes and it handles AVCHD from my Sony SR11 pretty well. Basically, Studio 11 does what I need it to do as a video editor and converter. I received an offer to upgrade to ...

>> Unfortunately, this is for Studio 12 only.
Yes, it's definitely unfortunate. The Studio 11 single frame flashback bug is well documented on the forum (examples here, here and here). I've sent email to Pinnacle Support using the support links provided on the Pinnacle Systems website with links back to this ...

I'm impacted by the video flashes as well. Will the patch be available for S11 as well?

You don't need to convert. The problem is your video card. My brother-in-law had the exact same problem on the quad core machine like yours. Upgrade your 8500GT to a 9600GT and you'll be fine. They can be had for about $140 from Newegg.

Yes, I saw your response in the other thread but unfortunately the question is far from being answered. You simply confirmed that you're having the problem I have. I suppose the next step is to call pinnacle support.

shameless bump ...
A response from an actual pinnacle support person would be appropriate here. Is that asking too much?

No, playback in the preview window is working fine but I'm bringing a lot of CPU to the party. When playing AVCHD in the preview window my CPU is around 70%. As others here have mentioned it's best to have a quad core cpu if you're dealing with AVCHD. My E8400 gets the job done but it won't be long before I upgrade to a quad core ...

As noted in the first message in this thread, I'm seeing single frame flashbacks when editing and/or transcoding AVCHD video in Pinnacle 11.1. My version of Pinnacle is up to date with the latest patches. The problem occurs even if I don't edit the the file. All I need to do is transcode any file from my Sony SR11 and I ...

Thanks for the reply, Mark. I'm not doing anything you mentioned. I get the flash frames with no editing whatsoever. I drop a video clip (length of clip doesn't matter) from my SR11 into Pinnacle and simply choose to recode to mpeg2, mpeg4, WMV ... it doesn't matter. The flash frame problem shows up on unedited clips ...

Glad I found this thread. I'm also a new Pinnacle user after purchasing a Sony SR11 HD camcorder. My editing experience is limited to AVCHD only. The single biggest issue I have so far is the same thing the original poster mentions, single frame flashbacks, and it's driving me nuts. I'm seeing them in almost every video I ...
