• Re: Studio 14 and Dolby 5.1 Sound

Since the source material has 5.1 discrete sound channels on it, and Studio supports 5.1 discrete sound channels in the output format, it surely can't be rocket science to carry the one over to the other. AFAICT, it must take more code to downmix the 5.1 in to 2 channels than leaving it alone. Here must be a great opportunity for ...

  • Re: Studio 14 and Dolby 5.1 Sound

It would be nice to know when (or even if) Pinnacle intend to provide this facility. Since it currently reads all the channels of 5.1 sound, I can't see where the difficulty is. IanS

  • Studio 14 and Dolby 5.1 Sound

I am looking at Studio 14 as an upgrade path. Does anyone know if it will import AVCHD (H.264) video and preserve the Dolby Digital 5.1 sound? Previous editions only downconverted it to standard stereo which is about as much use as a crutch with wheel on the end of it. I note that the list of capture formats includes AC3 in the ...

  • Re: AVCHD project, random video flashes in final DVD disc

JKoch:Does the Dolby 5.1 sound survive from the AVHCD source to any file format or disc export result? We established some while ago that the Dolby 5.1 sound does not survive into any Studio output format. Studio 11 simply mixes the 2 rear channels in with the 2 front channels to do a stereo (2.0) downconvert. Studio 12 seems ...

  • Re: One channel of Sound only.

markk655: IanS, This is a known bug in 12.0. It is only true for some (perhaps only the HDC-SD1). It is fixed in the current 12.1 beta version (avaialble for download). If they can't get a release version of Studio to work properly, do you think I would be daft enough to download a beta? I'll wait for the official release. I ...

  • One channel of Sound only.

When adding clips shot on a AVCHD camcorder in Studio 12, it has been found that Studio only imports the sound in the right channel. The left channel is completely silent. I am aware that the 5.1 surround sound is not imported as such, but at least Studio 11 imported it as a stereo downmix. This means that Studio 12 is ...

  • Re: Can't make Blu-ray in Studio 12

Further to my previous posts, all attempts to copy the project into a blank project have failed. Studio 12 won't stay running long enough to allow the project to be copied into a new project and be saved to a new file. In fact in all the recent attempts Studio crashes out not later than when the Edit menu is selected (so far ...

  • Re: Can't make Blu-ray in Studio 12

bhurst: What is your project type? If the project type ... resolution, interlaced/progressive, etc. ... are different from the output type, it seems the background rendering will kick in when you select the Make Movie tab. If this happens, I have had best results by letting the re-render complete before actually starting the make file/disc ...

  • Re: Can't make Blu-ray in Studio 12

I have just made a smaller test file (just 1 minute long) and it bombs Studio out every time it tries to write out the blu-ray files. However copying the content into a new blank project sems to work (except that only blank menus are copied - you have to completely recreate the content). I shall try yhis on the blockbuster ...

  • Re: Can't make Blu-ray in Studio 12

I have tried restarting the PC. Makes no difference. I am wondering if there is a limit on the movie length that is shorter than the actual capacity of a blu-ray disc. A short trial project (5 minutes) works no problem. My project is a 103 minute movie with a simple menu and 14 chapters made from MPEG-2 source and rendering ...
