LewS:We have moved beyond this. It is not a soundcard issue.
Yes I understand this, but my point is that I can't see how it was ever a possibility in the first place.
I remember seeing the audio sync prob twice, both of them on my second editing machine with a core 2 duo 6700 and onboard audio.
One of them was ...

Forgive me, but I don't see how the sound card has anything to do with a OOS problem on the disk!?! You should be able to create a disk without a sound card at all. It's merely an output device is it not? I would think there to possibly be an issue if the audio has to go THROUGH the sound card on its way to the disk, but this isn't so.
Could some ...

For the actual on-screen work I would simply use a screen capture program. Last I saw, the older version of Camtasia was free and it's a pretty good program. It'll capture the entire screen (including mouse movements) or any section of the screen that you indicate. It will deliver your video as a AVI
Don't know if it's still free but you can try ...

Sorry Thomas, I use Cineform as an example only because I know it and it's easier for me to relate to all of this if I compare it directly.
At any rate, If the185 is better then may I suggest to George that we try that and skip the 120 for now? There seems to be a bit of confusion with the 120 and it might be a better idea to compare MC at its ...

Note to George:
Let me start off by saying that although I have played with MC a few times on some one else's machine, I am by no means even CLOSE to any kind of knowledgeable person on the subject. But the little I have learned so far is that MC is very much like FCP in the respect that you must bend in ITS direction. Instead of the NLE first ...

Well, let's just back up a bit here and answer a few simple questions.
First, I know that with Cineform, you must transcode FIRST before bringing your work onto the time line. This is probably handled a bit different in MC because DX is its native codec, but generally speaking is transcoding FIRST the preferred technique? In most editors that I ...

Personally, I'm kind of object to Sony's big push on the idea of going tapeless... more so because of the avchd than anything else. But it could prove kind of interesting and educational:
Sony's HD Creation and Workflow Expo Will Feature:

sverkalo:That decay of the layer has not proved yet. It's just another theory.
It will be more practical after 20-30 years that DVD's will prove they real strenghts or weaknesses.
Well it in fact HAS been proven on the cheaper disks. But you're right, only time will tell with the more expensive ones.
-
sverkalo:The problem with the transcoding is that you loose quality in certain cases.
I never liked Cineform for this but all of that talking is very theoretic as by naked eyes you can't see the real difference.
That's why the capture must be and it is always in a native codec depending on the software hardware.
I too share this belief, but ...
