Thanks for the response Lew.  Note that I was successful in fusing the timeline.  However, when placing the fused file on the new timeline, I still got the exact same error message at the exact same frame.  This even occurs when attempting to just burn a DVD from the timeline (no DVD menu).

Just tried outputing a portion of the timeline (via mark in and mark out) to DVD and got the exact same Export failure at the exact same frame # 251 per the attached file.  What is going on here??!!

I forgot to mention.  I also tried DVD export using Video TS/Burn to Disc on both the original sequence and the sequence using fused clips but in both cases I got the dreaded Export failure per the attached file.  In this case, it appeared as though it made it through the beginning and ending menus but then choked at frame 251 of the ...

Somehow ffdshow was recently installed on my AL7/MC5 editing computer (the one in my profile).  I recently installed FLV Player, GIMP and Sorenson Squeeze Version 5 on this computer  Would any of those programs also installed ffdshow?  Are AL7 and ffdshow compatible or should I uninstall ffdshow from my editing ...
