Been reading with interest the various comments in this thread. And thought I'd add a couple of comments based on delivering programming to HD Broadcasters.
Many international broadcasters have very high standards for HD programming delivered to the premier HD channels. The problem however has been that these standards still do vary ...

Does anyone have any current thoughts on QuadCore over DualCore with Liquid.
In looking at either a 3.33ghz dual core or a 3.00ghz quad core ... does Liquid actually manage to take advantage of the 4 cores to a sufficient amount to wear the drop in Ghz for a quad on this new box.

Yeah I hear what you are saying - guess in this case it seems like they are saying they cant get a XENA not sure what that means.

At a guess - are you trying to use an NVIDIA graphics card?
The nvidia 8x00 series nvidia graphics cards are not supported at all by liquid.
If you have a 6x00 or 7x00 series nvidia card - you cannot use the recent drivers. You must revert to the APPROVED 81.72 nvidia driver for ...

Both cards still suffer some noticable softening if you use GPU effects with the latests RADEON drivers.
We still avoid GPU effects for the most part and stick with CPU they are MUCH cleaner.

Anyone got any comments on how long the conversion process takes ?Westa

Both systems have different driver and graphic card requirements for optimum use.
Dont recall how Media Composer is with ATI - I seem to recall it expects and NVIDIA card.
Liquid on the other hand has issues with some NVIDIA cards - read most of the new ones.
You would need to give it a try and work towards and balanced setup
