I use Studio 14 to export video from the Canon 7D. I use the 30mbs MPEG2 preset at the native scaling.
I've read on the studio sections of the forum that if studio rescales the image the result is too soft. The files I have created using no scaling have not looked soft in Liquid.

A RAID isn't going to help in conversation times. The processor is the bottleneck in the transcoding of H264 to another format.
How complex of a project are you doing? If its simple cuts and transitions something like Studio could get you by till you found a more advanced solution. Studio 14 will edit AVCHD/H264 material.

drdimento: cmedico: I have a couple of AVCHD cameras and I am using Studio 14 to convert to 30mb MPEG2. I bring all the clips for a project into S14 and drop them on a timeline with slates between each one. I export as 30mb VBR MPEG and import into liquid. What do you mean put slates between them? Also, how long does it take for them ...

If you set your timeline up to your export format it will render as many slices simultaneously as you have cores. I have used this technique to GREATLY reduce my rendering times for SDE projects. If you try this on a quad core and it doesn't use most of the processor then you need to look for other data bottle necks in your ...

I'll do the wedding for free if you will pick-up the expenses!
I was thinking that same thing. :)

It really depends on what you are doing. If you are doing a video export then yes, the number of threads that Liquid will spawn is limited to 2 and the hot quad won't do anything for you.

The EX1 with a shoulder mount is still way under $10k and works great.
Buy a strap on eyecup adapter for the flip out monitor and you will be quite impressed with how well it can be handled for long events.
The key is finding the mount that fits you and your style.

bigrock:Considering the 1d Mk111 was $3700 body only I suspect you can buy a pretty good video camera for the same price as this thing equipped with lens.
My personal experience disagrees with this when it comes to low light performance. I just returned from the NC State Fair and did a test shoot with the Canon 7D and the Sony ...
