The pre-order advice should at least disclose the system requirements. Does it?
To edit and burn large, complex high definition projects in native format can require a heckuva lot of CPU and GPU, especially if the format is AVCHD. If the system requirements of Studio 12 are a ''one size fits all'' geared to the ...

Standard DVD projects break up the stream files in the disc image to units no larger than 0.9 GB, so that a 4 GB project will have 4 or so files in the disc stream folder. Studio 11.12 AVCHD projects do no such division. If a project is 6 GB, there will be simply one big m2ts file in the stream folder. Windows Vista ...

Voxmagna: You must be comfortable with Regedit Registry editing.
This raises the hurdle up to my nostrils. Not impossible, and no criminal penalties for failure, but high enough to prefer a workaround--or a patch.
Does the 4.7 GB DVD-SL ceiling persist when one starts a brand new project? Or, with a new project, can one ...

Would this ''bug'' be guaranteed to occur each time someone burns a 70 minute project first in standard definition to a DVD-SL and then in AVCHD to a DVD-DL or a BD-RE?
This could be precisely the reason why I've never been able to burn longer high definition projects to DVD-DL or BD. I always burn in standard definition first, and ...

I've opened VOB files in studio by simply instructing the file brower to view ''all files'' and not just video files. Of course, VOB files ARE video, just MPEG2 by a different name, but Studio (and some other NLEs) don't automatically recognize them as such. One can also change the file suffix to 'MPG'' and achieve the same ...

Video work uses lots of hard drive space! High definition work uses an unholy amount of memory.
I just got a TB external drive to supplement my existing smaller ones. I'm sure some people must use whole rooms full of multiple servers and drives.
Other people have observed this: when you add a new hard drive to a port, Windows may ...

Card: NVIDIA Geforce 8400M GT with 256 MB Memory
Operating System: Vista Home Premium 32 Bit
Studio Version: Studio 11.1.1 Ultimate
Results: OK with AVCHD and other HD playback, 1920x1080 60i included. Preview OK for small AVCHD projects, but the preview screen sometimes goes black if one toggles ...

None of this will enable anyone to distribute high definition video that can be played on any existing SD DVD player. Perhaps some models could be reved up by means of a firmware upgrade, but many probably cannot. People who watch videos on their PCs might have any number of options, but the real deal comes only when viewed on a big ...

This thread conforms to the Gambolputty-de-von-Ausfern* Theorum:
All forum threads invariably meander into off-topic trivia, gripes, and nonsense, in compound trinomial proportion to the number of entries, soon leading to utter incoherence, profanity, advanced entropy, Neanderthal grunts, or canine barking by the third page. ...

I don't think anyone took notice of my observations about Avid's corporate outlook.
There is a world beyond what we see through the videocam viewfinder or the edit storyboard.
Avid's current share price of $23 is a discouraging faction of the $60 price two years ago. It lost money first quarter and may do so again in second quarter. ...
