Netbooks, notebooks, and laptops are evolving rapidly.  As of yet, no tablet is powerful enough to edit video, but I'd not be surprised if, by 2013, we don't see ones that can. This is just a shot in the dark, but PS 14 (and perhaps PS 15 too?) had a problem with AVCHD files longer than about 7 minutes.  Some people reported a pixelation or break-up.  Could some shared factor have contibuted to an audio problam after a certain point in a large clip?  Whether true or not, maybe a similar workaround would ...
