I have the exact same problem. Had to install Studio 12 Plus on a new computer recently. Now portrait photos in my photo folders show up in landscape shape when using Studio. If I add to a project they add sideways! And simply using the rotate effect doesn't help because the pan/zoom effect I use on photos can only zoom within the black pillars ...

UPDATE: The editing process does work better with ''background rendering'' disabled. I still need to find a way to burn an AVCHD disc that doesn't jump and stutter every few seconds.
