Tomas,
Thanks for the reply. Based on your knowledge I ordered the Professional Upgrade and have downloaded, in anticpation, the 2 programs for Windows XP mode .
Questions:
1) Do I even need the XP mode software or will Liquid 7.2 run okay directly under W7?
2) Regarding TDK. Will the original TDK RT run within the XP mode software?
3) ...

I just installed Avid L7.21 and as expected TDK RT did not work. I uninstalled that and installed TDK Pro 2.x and set it to Windows XP SP2. TDK Pro does run by itself... how do I get Avid Liquid 7.21 to recoginize it from within?
thanks,
Barry

Thanks for your thoughts Don and Igor. I decided to make the plunge and purchased the camcorder from B&H for $539.95... a far cry from the over $1G original MSRP.
What 'evidence' I saw via web search seems to indicate that with good lighting I will get 'better' (perhaps read sharper and more colorful) video.

You may also want to check Lynda.com for Studio 12 training.
I am not recommending one over the other... just giving you more info.

Opinions sought.
I currently have a Canon GL1 3CCD camcorder and am considering the Canon VIXIA HV30 camcorder.
1) Will I get 'better' video'?
2) Any other recommendations for HD cameras?
Thanks,
Barry

Marc,
The 12.1.3 patch did NOT cure the problem for me.

If I remember correctly it has already been determined the current patch being evaluated now will still have support for Smartsound... after that??????

Thanks again Marc;
As long as they are aware of the problem and are working on it I am a happy camper on this issue.

Thanks Mark. Now that means that S12 is having difficulty handling them. (Based on my an others' experiences this appears in more than one way). Is that being addressed in the new beta versions?

Mark,
It would be nice to see you posting an answer to this question, which has been going on since May. I have only seen what other users believe.
Why is, what should be a simple yes or no answer, too hard for the programmers to answer.
Is S12 supposed to handle 16 bit photos?
