• Re: Best AVCHD to MPEG2 CONVERTER ??

Thanks for the reply. Well that feature is the problem, the scene detection can be delayed by a frame or so. Then a different scene is shown in the album, containing the previous scene. It is mainly a nuisance and wastes time, the extra delayed frame has to be removed, especially if the scenes are not edited in the sequence they were ...

  • Best AVCHD to MPEG2 CONVERTER ??

I CONVERT THE CAMERA OUTPUT, 1920X1080 24mB, to MPEG2 1920x1080 at 30Mb for editing. For that I use V15, its converter is very high quality, BUT cannot batch convert, the individual files are joined. Re identifying the individual files is hit or miss. When editing our various trips there may be as many as 2000 individual video shots ...

  • Re: Is v16 a proxy editor?

Thank you jjn for the reply. The last video I did with v15 was nearly 2 hrs long 1920x1080 AVCHD, so I convert to MPEG2 first and then back to AVCHD to burn. Would V16 allow editing of a video of that length without slowing down? I have an i7 set up. BTW what is your favorite AVCHD to MPEG2 converter? I use v15 but it is very slow but ...

  • Is v16 a proxy editor?

When editing AVCHD will it substitute a lower resolution to speed up editing but burn to blu-ray in full, original AVCHD? I did not notice any reference to it. Eugene

  • Re: JJIN, aspect ratio problem

Thanks for the reply JJn. I did all the above, I can change the AR of the first file to 16x9, and according to Mediainfo that is what the entire video is, but then it greys out for the subsequent files. No problems ever with dozens of files over the years so I suspect the video. It is a AVCHD to MPEG2 PS conversion done with a xilisoft ...

  • Re: Converting to MPEG2 to speed editing V15

Yes it is, however since there is lots of room on the 25GB discs I simply check CBR to speed the conversion up. However I ran into a problem with material that was converted to MPEG2, PS v15 sees it as having an aspect ratio of 4x3 and there is nothing in v15 to change that. Apparently it is a V15 problem only. I asked JJn if he has any thoughts. ...

  • JJIN, aspect ratio problem

Adding 16x9 MPEG2 files to the V15 editor results in the first file showing up as 16x9 and all subsequent files are 4x3. The radio button for aspect ratio is greyed out. Setting the project settings to 16x9 has no effect. Apparently this is a bug, I saw references to that in the forum. According to Mediainfo the file is 16x9. I am going ...

  • Re: Converting to MPEG2 to speed editing V15

Thanks for your comments VE7AXO Just finished a long video, used the xilisoft video converter for this project. Turns out it's best PQ conversion is in the AVI mode at 40Mb, however once added to PS a lot of files are generated apparently used by PS. The ''sort by '' file command can be used to isolate them. One reason I used this ...

  • Converting to MPEG2 to speed editing

My camera output is AVCHD 24Mb 1920x1080 60i, trying to produce a video longer than 20 to 30 min slows the editing process considerably as transitions, titles etc are added. My vacation videos are typically 60 to 90 minutes and for years I have converted to MPEG2 at 35 Mb to speed up this process. The downside is a minute loss in PQ if this is ...
