What I did was make a video using Panasonic's HD Writer program and put this on a card. It played OK on the TV. Then I took the video file from Studio, changed the suffix to .mts and replaced the file on the card with the new one. In exactly the same place. It didn't work.
I have also tried using the conversion program multi AVCHD. I must say I ...

Yes, I tried just changing the suffix to .mts but it didn't seem to work. I'll have another go.

Yes, I can use the editor that comes with the camera to make a video, output this to the SD card and it plays on the TV in HiDef no problem. But the Panasonic editor that comes with the camera is extremely basic. I think I need to find a way to get a HD file from Pinnacle that has the extension .mts

The file the camera produces is .mts and I guess the panasonic tv must be looking for that extension.

Thanks. Did that but my Panasonic TV still says ''no valid file to play''
Computer says no!
Very frustrating.
It plays an hd movie from the card if it is made with Panasonic's own HD Writer software but that is extremely basic.

The Tv will also accept AVCHD files. But it seems you can't make an edited AVCHD movie with Pinnacle. Is that right?

OK solved that by uninstalleing and reinstalling Cyberlink
