• Re: HD video

Neil, You have a hard drive based camcorder. You cannot ''capture'' into Studio using Firewire as that is for tape based camcorders where you have to play it back and capture in real time, 45 minutes of video takes 45 minutes to do this. You need to read up on the instructions and see how to transfer your video files from the camcorder hard ...

  • Re: Studio12 on a AMD Phenom II x4 940 with ATi Radeon 4650 Vista64bit

hanzel: On the site the specs od Studio 12 says : Intel Quadcore etc but ther is no mentioning of the AMD quadcore's. If that's in reference to AVCHD take note that Pinnacle states quad core running at 2.66Ghz MINIMUM speed for 1920x1080 17Mbps. So most of today's AVCHD camcorders are 1920x1080 and we are seeing some at 24Mbps. ...

  • Re: Core i7 - Is it worth the cost?

Go the Core i7 route. Last Feb I didn't pay attention to Pinnacle's stating a quad core at 2.66Ghz minimum was required to edit 1920x1080 17Mbps AVCHD and I ordered a Dell with the Q6600 quad core at 2.4Ghz. I had constant frustrations trying to work with the highest resolution video the Canon HF100 had. A graphics card swap to an ...

  • Re: Doing a Menu Link has been a killer for me

Sometimes if you do not put a link and a return on the LAST chapter first, links and returns you define on the timeline won't hold. With the menu editor open, move the scrubber (timeline place marker) to the beginning of the LAST chapter you want to define. In the lower left of the grey panel beside the menu design window is an icon, ...

  • Re: Use of Scorefitter - licence conditions?

JKoch: Wouldn't it be easier to use Scorefitter for such purposes than Smartsounds, since the latter is a third party with its own copyrights and so forth? Back when a sample library of SmartSound music came with Studio, I was selling some training videos that I scored parts with some of that music. Later when ...

  • Re: Can a "AVCHD burned DVD disc be played on a regular DVD player?

Paniolo: I plan to send a copy of this AVCHD burn DVD disc to my son. But he does not have a Blu/rey player. He does have a regular DVD player. Will he able to watch this AVCHD recording on his DVD player? DO NOT SEND HIM AN ''AVCHD'' DISK! It will not play in his regular DVD player, and in most cases it will fail ...

  • Re: mov. video clips

JKoch: My impression is that Studio will support some 640x480 standard definition or 340x220 web-definition versions of MOV, such as those offered by the budget-end QVGA Sony models, but has a hard time with any of the 1280x720 progressive formats now almost universal on new middle and higher end P&S digicams, particularly if they ...

  • Re: How to edit AVCHD files with a SLOW PC

Actually, I upgraded to Studio 11 when it was first offered. I had an AMD Athlon 64x 2 Dual Core +4200 and was editing HDV. When I ordered the first HF100 I ordered a Dell with Q6600 quad core 2.4Ghz without paying attention to what Pinnacle advised. The Core i7 is a bit faster in some ways but Pinnacle Studio is such a ''hungry ...

  • Re: Studio 12 and Smartsounds

Mike, It need not be real complicated. I have Studio 12 installed and the update patch to 12.1 and have SmartSound and Scorefitter coexisting on a brand new computer that never had a previous version on it. I sold 9 and upgrades to 10 and 11 so I had no disks with SmartSound files left. So I followed folewood's process ...
