Thanks Lew.
After trying as many things as possible, I managed to get round this problem by converting the clips to mpg2 files, then importing into Liquid.
I'll have to look at what other solutions are possible for the future when using AVCHD, and re-read the posts you point out.

The files are showing as 16bit, and when exporting files are not empty but again no sound.
Like you say, the files are corrupt, but just a bit strange that Liquid can play them.

I have converted some AVCHD clips to avi using AVCHD Transcoder v21.
I can Import them to Liquid and edit on the timeline (along with captured DV clips). Everything looks ok, except the audio track just has blue line volume, whereas the other audio clips (from dv) also show the audio waveform. All the sound on the playline plays ok. All the ...

I have just had a look at feature comparison between Home Premium E, Professional E, & Ultimate E.

Aware that DirectX 10 & Vista may be a problem, but does rest sound ok for running Liquid (I used to run it ok ...

Profile slightly out of date - now more memory.
Is there a cheapish graphic card that will help (and extend PC life)?

All, thanks very much. I was not keen on doing a re-install (& not sure what a repair option is).
Finally took the plunge, and started Liquid 7.2 update (without any un-install). Watching all the install messages I fleetingly saw .....Rapid(Liquid)..... install message.
Have now retried - and error message stopped - great.
Next I must try ...
