I should clarify that my use of the MB DV is for comp preview. I have not used it for any other purpose with After Effects.
Sorry, but I have never tried Media Composer and cannot comment on th MB DV use with it. I trust that someone will answer as this forum is full of people with knowledge and a willingness to share. ...

For what it is worth......
The MovieBox DV works fine with After Effects. For me, that alone is worth having one.

Thanks all.
Dave, I used a very capable program named MP3TAG.
I am following the ID3v2 standard, which according to http://www.id3.org/ the information is stored with the MP3 file. And while I understand that I am burning a CD from MP3 files, I have read that the CDs can keep the information if the hardware and burning software all ...

OK--Not video editing, but media creation so I guess this fits just a bit.
In addition to video and PowerPoint production, I have been doing some audio work for a Home Based Education curriculum company. Recently, I completed 2 CDs with up to 80 tracks of lessons for students. After assembling the recordings, I burn the master, which ...

I have wrestled with the exact same question and have come to the conclusion that money spent on anything above a TN monitor is....well....wasted. I have come believe that (for my slice of Event video) it is more important for the color to be pleasing to the eye, and consistent across the project, more so than drop-dead accurate. ...

Igor,
While I am not 100% positive which drive in the system was the ''old'' 7300 RPM rendering drive, all of the 4 physical drives in the system have 16K buffers, including the ''new'' 10K RPM render drive.
Given the above, the buffering seems the same. If you look at the 3.5'' HD comparison charts at Tom's Hardware ...

Hey Dave,
I see this occasionally too on really large projects with several sequences like weddings. One thing that I think ''triggers'' the problem is when I open another sequence when the one I was working on has not completely rendered. Just speculation, but that's what it seems like. I don't overclock and am religious about ...

WRT 10K RPM Drives....I did some informal testing in 2008 with a system I had just built. Having a brand new and clean system afforded me the opportunity to compare rendering times on a 7200 drive to that of a 10K drive. Here's a copy & paste from a much earlier post:
I took a 5 minute clip to which I made some ...

John,
Take a look at this: http://www.tomshardware.com/charts/desktop-cpu-charts-q3-2008/Premiere-Pro-CS3-HDTV,833.html
This is not a perfect comparison but provides guidelines. TomsHardware is a pretty respected site BTW.
If I compared the performance of the i7 920 (2.66Ghz) VS. the Q9450 (also 2.66--this is the one that I ...

John,
Regarding your questioning if the i7 CPU is ''too much?'' My thoughts are to buy as much CPU and MOBO capabilities as you can financially justify. You will not be disappointed with the results. The biggest benefit will be in the future when you get an application that takes advantage of all the capabilities you ...
