VE7AXO:
LewS:Releases of an existing product and creating an entirely new product from scratch (new code, new interface, new features, etc.) are two very different things. I don't think it is vaporware.
My current Liquid 7.2 does everything that I need for the near future and I for one am happy to wait and see what ''NextGen'' brings when it ...

Thanks for the input, chaps, and I'm pleased to have sparked such an interesting debate.
I, too, think that BluRay is getting to the stage of being useful to small-volume producers (I reckon on 10 - 100 copies of my railway productions on DVD). Prices are a little higher this side of the pond, but computer BR drives are around £150 - 180, I saw ...

Thanks everyone, TMpgEnc AW4 has just gone to the top of my shortlist. $99 for a program that doesn't need to re-encode a standard output file from AL7.2 sounds like just the sort of thing I want. I also like the sound of making DVDs from the same ''master'' that look better than those created within Liquid.
Just one thing. You all mention ...

Hi Chaps,
I've not been around much recently, so when the question of what software to use for making BluRay discs came up the other day, I thought I'd better search the archives first. I found several threads on the subject, but all a year old, or more. Most people at that stage were recommending DVDit Pro HD, though there were one or two ...

Thanks SmetVid for making these available. I used quite a lot of colour correction in my last project (balancing two different cameras) and was a little disappointed in the quality drop, so hopefully these will help next time.
My source material is 1080i50 HDV from a Canon XH-A1 and a Sony FX1. Target outputs are:
- HDV master tape ...

I've not been hanging around this forum for a while, but since NAB has just happened, I thought I'd pop in to see if there is any news of ''NextGen'' yet. Obviously not. Never mind, I shall carry on with AL7.2 for the time being. However, I expect to be in the market for an upgrade soon, perhaps this time next year. I will not be buying ...

It’s been rather a frustrating evening, uninstalling and reinstalling things, but I finally have a system able to record HDV to tape again. Phew!
install AL7.2 over the top of existing installation – no change
uninstall from Add/Remove Programs and reinstall – no change
uninstall ATI graphics card software (scary!) and reinstall – it ...

The DVD format is capable of holding 4:3 and 16:9 films on the same disc. However, it's complicated and beyond the scope of LE's authoring tools - and most other ''budget'' DVD authoring programs. I have a copy of DVD Lab Pro which is supposed to be able to build dual-format discs but I got into a huge muddle when I tried to do it. I never did get ...

LewS:Liquid does not support AVCHD....
But Pinnacle Studio does. I know someone who captures AVCHD into Studio, converts it to HDV (I think this can be automated to convert all clips in one folder) and imports the resulting clips into AL where they are combined with others from HDV and DV cameras. He also uses Studio to write finished ...

dmfreeman: Lew,
I recaptured the tape with the logging tool rather than the EZcapture utility, and it seems to be playing just fine from the timeline. The capture must have been corrupt, or is it EZ Capture that's the issue with capturing HDV? Thanks for the input . . . I love happy endings.
Thanks again
Denny
