• Re: Re:Connecting Canon Camcorder to Win 10 Laptop

culpanr:I'm afraid that I can't help with Edition as I never used it. Did you check to see if the AVI file actually contained the audio as well? Maybe Edition is ''being helpful'' and saves the audio channels separately to cater for situations where there's the mic on the subject recorded on one channel and a producer's narration mic on the ...

• Re: Re:Connecting Canon Camcorder to Win 10 Laptop

I have tried the above method but have a problem. I imported via FireWire a recording from a mini-DV tape to a hard drive on my XP desktop, using Pinnacle Liquid Edition. To my surprise this generated various files which included the video in AVI format but the left and right audio WAV files separately. I then copied the AVI and 2 WAV files ...

culpanr: Smoothie:A further question, folks: If on my XP computer I capture from my Canon XM-2 DV tapes via FireWire, using LE or Studio 9 (which I still have), then transfer the captured AVI file via my network to my laptop for editing with Studio 24U, will the transferred file contain the original (location) Timecode as put down by the camera, ...

• Re: Re:Connecting Canon Camcorder to Win 10 Laptop

culpanr: Smoothie:I am surprised that there is currently no device for connecting FireWire to USB or HDMI on the laptop as mini-DV tapes are still in use. Unfortunately it's a very small (niche) market - and easily filled by putting a Firewire card into a desktop PC. The other straightforward route to get Firewire into a laptop (via an ...

saby:No, without a dedicated Firewire port, the PC can't connect to the camera. R_Vera:If you still have your old XP desktop and works fine you can capture your videos in there and just copy/paste your videos into an external HDD and use your new computer to edit.Thank you both - and for confirming that a digital transfer from the XM-2 can only ...

saby:Read this discussion : http://forums.pinnaclesys.com/forums/thread/799175.aspx Thanks for your suggestion but unfortunately that thread seems to be inconclusive. Has USB the ability to input DV and have camera control from Studio 24 when importing?

• Connecting Canon Camcorder to Win 10 Laptop

I have a Canon XM-2 Camcorder which records onto DV tape cassettes complete with time code. With my old Win XP desktop I used to use a FireWire lead to capture the cameras recordings to a drive on the computer, controlled by Studio 9 (later: Pinnacle Liquid Edition 6.1) during Import. I now use a new Win 10 laptop of high spec but of course ...

• Re: Project stopped rendering slices

Hi again, David. No, the Render drive has 150Gb left available! LATEST: I have now resolved this issue and up-and-running again. It was nothing directly to do with Liquid. As usual with computers not functioning correctly, you always think back to the last events undertaken, and a day or two ago I decided to run System File ...
• Re: Project stopped rendering slices

Thank you for your suggestions, David. I willl try them. However I doubt if they will work as I deleted all the render files of the sequence in the hope of forcing a render and thus have lots of yellow slices (but interestingly still also some green ones) sitting looking at me. Right clicking the render bar indicates 'render in progress' ...
• Project stopped rendering slices

Having edited six sequences in Liquid 6.1 satisfactorily, including automatic rendering of all slices, all sequences (and a new Test one) will now not render dissolves etc. Liquid says rendering is taking place but the sigma sign has become a grey rectangle (no picture in it) and the progress bar is stationary. Rendering still works ...
