I deleted the xml file and restarted pinnacle but it still gives me the same error message.

Just like magic when I opened Avid this morning it stated working.  So I immediately went in and deleted all of my duplicated files in the library .  Now it is working . In a previous post by Beauregard  he let his machine set over night and it started working.  Did Avid build in some magic into the program?

Jeff, thanks for the great explanation on DSLR and the cost to produce a good video and like you say it might be best to start with a  prosumer level video cam and see how deep I want to go.
