Maybe the fear of HD DVD is that it is easier to steal hi-def material and remaster it for inexpensive distribution -- something the bluray community would want to suppress naturally. Too bad in a way, since LE can go to an HD DVD format so blazingly fast. But probably HDV format will go extinct before long, replaced by a ...

I have searched this forum for ''deinterlacing'' and haven't seen any definitive conclusion on LE deinterlacing algorithm (particularly for HDV).
Does anyone know for HDV (60i and 50i):
1. can LE deinterlace without losing vertical resolution, or does it simply use ''line doubling''?
2. can LE do any ''motion tracking'' ...

Yes, see here.
Yes -- our speeds are not too different if you adjust 2500 frames of 50i against 3000 frames of 60i -- although you are still getting a little more performance out of your dual core 2.4 Ghz than I am from my dual processor 2.8 GHz. I'd like to identify what tweak I'm missing if any -- maybe dual cores are ...

I've got my eye on TmpGenc, sounds very good. I have an old lite version of it.
Is there going to be any support in the future for HD DVD disks?
What kind of hi def can TmpGenc make from a liquid fused file? Is a fused file the best approach, or another?

I just confirmed a successful workflow for making a high def dvd (standard DVD media) that plays in my LG 390 bluray dvd player.
I fused an HDV timeline to a file and imported the file into a Studio Plus 12 project (I don't know much about Studio at this point, just installed it).
The Studio timeline format was set to 1080i. I then chose ...

Thanks for the tips. I'll probably try to uninstall Studio and get a clean install of LE 7.2, then put back in Studio to be safe.

I'm trying to install Studio Plus 12 and LE 7.2 on same machine so I can try making HD disks.
LE 7.2 already installed an working on Windows XP Pro.
I did following:
1. Installed Studio 12.
2. Installed Winter Pack. The install ''hung'' and never finished. I thought maybe needed to updates Windows XP ...

I'm in PAL and my TL for 100 secs of video, is 2500 frames. They were exported to ISO in 4'10'' That is almost the same speed. My CPU is 2.4 gHz and a double core.
Maybe a defrag of the render disk could improve the speed.
Facit: long timelines require long ISO producing times.
But then, the problem for overheating is a seriouis ...

As part of this subject, I'd like to hear how successful anyone has been at deinterlacing HDV clips without losing resolution using LE, and what the techniques are.

Ok, I did a more exact timing test.
I did a ''burn DVD'' process, just to make the ''.iso'' file; in other words, did not include the burning of the DVD.
I chose ''between mark in and mark out'' and used the first 100 seconds of the project (+/- 1 frame).
It took 5 minutes and 52 seconds to process the 3000 frames, plus a few seconds more ...
