Has anyone got any thoughts on which is the best version for video editing - Windows 7 Professional or Ultimate? The pre-order offer in the UK is only for home and professional versions so I was wondering if the Ultimate version had any hidden advantages for editing.

The Patronus anti-piracy system is worth a look (no experience of it myself).

No, however, my containers are created on the timeline using the container tool directly on a section defined using MI and MO's - I'll have a closer look within the containers tonight.

I have seen this behaviour also - unfortunately, I have not found a workaround. I use containers quite often when I want to scale/add border to a group of stills in a montage all at once with the 2D editor. However, I find in a similar way to you that you that centered dissolve transitions do not work properly at the edges of the container. ...

I have a spare SATA drive and was considering loading windows 7 RC1 onto this to test it out. My question is if I do this will I still be able swop backover to the removable SATA ...

Thanks for all your help

I think you are right about replacing my old IDE internal drive - I may do this at somepoint as it would be nice to get another year or so out of the system, its totally adequate for SD work. Just to clarify the second boot drive I have is connected to the MOBO via a SATA cable - its in a SATA hot swop backplane so I am kind of surprised it wasnt ...

Thanks for the reply Evan. As you can see from my updated post I decided not to proceed with deleting my original system drive. I suspect you may be correct about my external drive not being supported in my BIOS. I had to change the boot order so that I could do a restore via my Acronis boot disc- at that point I did notice that my external ...

Update - I decided against deleting the corrupt XP installation as I was unsure of its affects. Instead I restored the drive with an old image I made with Acronis a year ago. This worked fine - just spent last night doing a windows/microsoft update and updating software. Will save new image when done just in case it happens ...
