Well, I don't know what I'm doing either I guess, but that is what's happening to me. So if you want to tell me why changing the extension does what it does, I'm ready to jump on board your train. At least I've got a work around to keep me moving forward.

I just rechecked the 2 files after I renamed them, and I was wrong about the naming. If I change the name from mpeg to mpg, the sound is not seen when I import. conversely, if I change the mpg to mpeg then the Liquid import sees the sound. So the export must be working correctly, it's just that the import ignores the sound if the extension is mpg. ...

OK, that makes things even stranger. My ONLY option in the format output was mpg. However, I changed the filename extension to mpeg from the default of mpg. Anybody want to take a stab as to why that would work?

I decided to check a little further and found that the 2 files I exported were exactly the same size. So then I thought, maybe it's just the import into Liquid that isn't working. So I changed the extensions around on the 2 files and the one I originally exported with the mpeg extension still had the audio showing, even though it now had mpg as ...

Just so everyone knows, I changed the file extension to mpeg and then it exported the audio. I tried using mpg again (just in case) and it did NOT export the audio.

I don't recall doing something like that, especially since I was just about to ask where I would check that. So where would I check that?

I have some HD footage in a time line that, when I export it to HD MPEG-2, no sound goes alomg, even though there are sound settings in the export profile. If I export it to DVD MPEG-2, the sound does go along.
