If by the term advance... you mean VERY stable... simple-ish to use... very capable of doing just about any major editing project without problems... AND, when you look at the price... then... Yea!... Liquid is fantastic. Honestly, I don't why AVID is even trying to create NexGen...
IMHO, they only need to upgrade Liquids DVD creation ...

How about stability... did he mention any comparison as to how stable Edius is compared to Liquid (specially with regard to HD)?
There are a lot of NLE's that can do more than Liquid (or at least the same)... but, most of them are not as near as stable as Liquid. At least that has been my experience.

Size of disc space needed depends upon what your work flow is...
In my case, I do a lot of compositing (and some 3D and a little 2K stuff) with my editing.... so, I tend to chew up 1T size Hard Drives like they're DVD's... plus, I have a really bad habit of keeping original source material and editing files on Hard Drive ...

This shouldn't be consider earth shattering ...

What are all the Liquid users doing being Pinnacle nor Avid is not supporting liquid with a new upgrades?
I am using AL to edit... AL liquid works fine with multi-core CPU's...
If you want to upgrade to something to take advantage of a 64 bit system... and, be ''moderately'' priced... you might look at getting Adobe Creative Suite... but, ...

Based on what you want to do...
... you will definately want to choose either Adobe Premier Pro or Avid Liquid.
...creating movie trailers can be done with either... however, the Adobe After Effects with Adobe Premier would probably be the best choice for what you want to edit - movie trailers. That combination would be very powerful ...

Good questions...
From a person who uses both Adobe editing and compositing software and Avid Liquid...
Here are a few answers to questions you did ask.
Avld Liquid... if set up on the proper computer... is far more stable and capable of doing more ''heavy lifting'' without straining than Adobe Premier Pro could ever dream.
In terms of ...
