I used the cleanup tool for the .NET frameworks, and then reinstalled starting with 2.0 and it's updates, and then got to 3.5. My question is, is there any reason I would need to put back the .NET 1.1 that was originally on my computer? Or is that ...

I tried installing the .NET 3.5 on it's own, and in safe mode, and it keeps failing. Is there a workaround? Help!

Turned out to be the Comodo Internet Security... installed the newest version that fixed a bug, and no more compiling problems!

Towbar, that's like scheduling surgery for a paper cut. This computer works fine except for this one new issue! Why would I throw away years of work? I will try colour's suggestion first. Fortunately, I defragment semi-regularly, so it shouldn't be too time-consuming this time around.

and BTW, Studio 12 compiles, but I can't use it because the menus are still low quality and someone overseas says my Studio 12 discs are incompatible with his duplicator and he needs me to stick with Studio 9. ARGGGGHHHHHH!

So basically, what I'm hearing is that I can disable every essential (to the rest of the computer, if not Windows) service, or just boot in safe mode, but there is really no way to run the program the way I used to, without having to reboot before trying to compile. What I want is for someone out there who is a real geek (in a good ...

I think I have... can you tell me what is NOT safe to disable, and how I can tell? I can't imagine what might have been updated on one desktop but not the other, that is causing so much trouble.

and, additionally, compiling in safe mode works, whereas disabling everything I can think of that's safe to disable in msconfig did NOT work.

Ok, here's an update. I can compile IN SAFE MODE only. I tried MSCONFIG and disabled everything I could think of to disable. I got the same error message when doing this. But it will compile in safe mode. So I have to do my project, save it, reboot in safe mode, and then it will render and compile. I don't know ...
