It might be asking for the original disc to verify you own it. perhaps if you put the disc in the drive before trying to load the beta it can then access the drive automatically to check.

As I suggested some weeks ago now, this thread would come to a grinding halt with no answers and no results. It appears there will be no information from Avid / Pinnacle and Ian, I don't think you have a had a 'call back' for sometime unless I missed something along the way? Does anyone know anything about the future of Smartsound in Studio?

The original footage came from my Panasonic camcorder tape (PAL) and I am using just the default settings for capturing in S12U. I don't seem to have any problems with editing unless the trim function is opened and then things go wrong as described.

I am using ver 12.0 ultimate and when I am editing the timeline, if I have the clip trimming function open then when trying to play from the preview monitor, the video freezes (or even goes blank) along with the scrubber however the sound can be heard. Anyone else have the same experience and how to get around this?

Avid, could we please either have the English version of the Studio 11 beta  on the forum page or remove it?

It sounds to me as though you will have to use the transfer content wizard and hopefully you have all the discs from previous versions. I presume you haven't used this option this time around?
