Well done - again!
Trouble is, convoluted though your 5.1 workaround is, its' success offers little encouragement to Pinnacle to develop a 'proper' way to process surround audio.
... that is, if they are even reading this stuff?????

I am glad this thread has been bumped, and in a perverse way it is reassuring to know that there are many of us with the same issue (since S14).
There are lots of separate threads on this board covering the same problem, and because of the helpful nature of many of the contributors here, the same hopeful advice is churned out, and the ...

What type of blank DVD did you burn to? DVD-R, DVD-RW, DVD+R, or DVD+RW?
What is the make and model of your DVD player? You have already said that the disc works OK in one of your machines, so there is unlikely to be anything wrong with the way you have burned the disc.
Go to the videohelp website, along the left-hand ...

Both loosecannon and R_Vera could ne right.
I use www.videohelp.com which has a comprehensive list of dvd players and lists their format playing abilities. If I am burning copies for friends I always ask them for the make and model of their player first.

Thanks, very generous of you to take the time to outline your methodology. It's an ingenious and logical approach, and it all makes perfect sense.

Audio - 384 kbps, 48KHz, 16bits, 6 channels, AC-3
This is from some test filming I did at 1080 50p. I note that the AVC High@L4.2 is not compatible with my WD Live hub at the ...

Thanks ghuck - I get your drift, in theory?! I am not familiar enough with Audicity, though I have it, to understand how to do that yet. My Panasonic TM900 camcorder creates multiple .mts files, each of which apparently has 2-channel stereo according to the file properties. What happened to the 5.1 that was recorded on ...

I asked this a while back. See advice at the bottom of this thread. Hope the link works.

I agree. There are multiple threads on this topic, and I have posted on a couple of those regarding a problem my Dad has with S14 Importer. Luckily he still has S12 installed and uses that for importing. I too have used all the advice provided to try to resolve this for him.
Pinnacle need to acknowledge ...

OOPS!
Just spotted this on the WD forum:-
WD Announcement for WD TV Live Hub Media Center or WD TV Live Streaming Media Player:
There is an issue parsing the file header on file types M2TS, MPG, MPEG, and TS video files containing Dolby, DTS, and PCM (above 2 channels). These files may display a ''Not Supported'' error message, or the files ...
