When I get past around 30 minutes of video with some subtitles, transitions, photos, voice overs and music, Studio gets VERY unstable, slow, buggy and occasionally just shuts down. When I pull up my CPU usage at these times it is maxed out at 98-100%. So up to that point all is actually in control and workable?

VE7AXO:You won't gain any real speed transferring data with a SSD using the current technology. The typical SSD write speed is about 100 MBytes/sec, while HDD's go up to 3 GBytes/sec.Look - you started the OT with that statement.
I questioned it, and you now conveniently say
By the way, I wouldn't put too much stock into ...

''Data transfer rate (as of 2008) at the inner zone ranges from 45 MB/s to 3.0 GB/s, while the transfer rate at the outer zone ranges from 74.0 MB/s to 111.4 MB/s.[citation needed] In contrast, the first PC drives could manage only around 40 KB/s.''All I can say is that there is at least 1 wrong ''fact'' there ...

Nah - think you missed the point.
''3 GByte/s'' is virtually impossible with current technology - we are at 3 Gbit/s today and most all current SATA drives will outperform any/all SSD drives on throughput. Burst rates may favor SSDs but to pay 30 times the price for the same capacity to save perhaps 5 seconds (if that) on a typical SD DVD ...
