• Re: Software

And don't forget that this is only for capturing DV, not any of the HD formats. Unless you have an old camera, this Moviebox will not be much use. Ten years (2003 - 2013) and eight versions (S8 - S16) of development is a lot in software development age and as Jeff (jjn) says, S8 didn't get good reviews in its day.

• Re: DX10 Video Card Patch

Lehiz: I was quite surprised to find out that a few download sites (Brothersoft etc) does have 7.21 installer, but they do not offer direct download link. However, they redirect you to old Pinnacle site where you can login and after that the Pinnacle site serves you the file! Also, thanks for another ''nameless'' forum member who helped me and ...
• Re: IMPORTING VIDEO 8 & HI8 USING A DIGITAL 8 CAMCORDER

Capturing from tape, be it Video 8, Hi 8 or MiniDV, is by its nature sequential and at a fixed rate. The independent capture program Scenalyzer was designed exactly for this type of capture and does so very well with discrete scene detection. The ''sensitivity'' of the scene detection can be adjusted so that not only will the scenes be ...

• Re: What's next for Pinnacle Studio?

Tony P:Paul, when I click Email my serial numbers, I get them to my email address. I get most of the registered products (Avid Liquid, HFX, Studio and PS products). So, not that I need to get emails from Pinnacle, but it would be nice to be included in the list. When I run S15U, I get the upgrade notice for PS16. Tony, where do ...

• Re: For a long time looking for liquid NG!

Edius is the closest to Liquid in how it works. Have you tried the latest version (ver. 7 I believe)? There is a trial version of it available, so give that a try. Liquid was great, but it is now obsolete as far as the newer codecs go. If you are using SD video, Liquid should still work well. In that case the ...

DStone: You obviously never drove around Boston!! No, I haven't driven in the Boston area yet, but here in Vancouver the drivers are not much better, as I am sure others would say the same about drivers in their own areas.

• Re: Fun with Grading

Dave, I know what you mean when you say that often effects and filters are used to distraction. As you say, some people tend to use stuff only because they can, not because it adds to the video or photo. Grading as well as using effects and filters may be ''artistic'', but there are different levels of ''art'', from the subtle to ...

• Re: Fun with Grading

DStone: For some reason, a lot of people seem to think that you need an HDR like image. And for most shots, that ends up looking unrealistic (the color from the image steals from the content of the image). IMHO of course. Dave, I agree with you in general, but I also tend to keep an open mind when I see an edited video or photo. An ...

• Re: Prosumer Codecs?

Tony P: I subscribe to Redshark. I saw the footage. I guess a lot has to do with the lens used, etc... The price of the camera is right. The cost of most of the lenses is pretty good too. But I would wait for at least a firmware update (there is no RAW right now in the camera) before considering it. Since I will be in the States ...

• Re: Fun with Grading

FYI, here is an ''ungraded'' picture of Numa Falls (Kootenay National Park) on the Vermillion River, from a Wikipedia article. The picture is also looking upstream, but shows a bit more background and the red rocks (hence the name Vermillion River?) don't look nearly as red or as dramatic as in bigrock's graded ...
