• Re: Re:Best way to import analog video

Thank you Richard. Anyone interested in converting film to digital can email me for a copy of my notes. I had several problems starting with my Chinon Sound projector that would not run and had no light. Lubricating the mechanics fixed the running. My new spare lamp did not work and investigation revealed both my lamps had grown an ...

  • Re: Re:Best way to import analog video

First impression of the Magnasonic FS81 is it looks like it has too much contrast on a 46'' LCD TV compared to the projected image of the same size. Low light shots went to B&W in the Kodachrome color film and the noise was really pronounced. However the digitized image on a VGA projection TV with 6ft size looked MUCH nicer that the projected ...

  • Re: Re:Best way to import analog video

My Sony GV-D200 plays Video 8 and Hi8 and outputs on Firewire. So do a couple of cameras and my Sony EV-S900 so that is the answer. They do the conversion and the video is only as good as they provide. Will PS25 be any better than PS14 at capturing the video? I suppose it will be identical on both since the conversion is already done. Both ...

  • Best way to import analog video & Copy 8mm Movies

Is there a ''best'' way to import Video 8 and Hi8 analog video? I have been using a Win7 computer with Firewire input and Studio 14. The number of vertical lines cannot be increased so I assume they are interpolated to reach the resolution of the monitor or TV. Is the capture software in newer versions of Studio (20/25) any better? My tape ...

  • Re: Re:Timeline scrubber speed

And the skip right next to the single frame? Just when you are getting to the spot to split you skip accidently 5 minutes ahead and lose the place. I get around it by using the keyboard, not using the buttons. So why bother with the buttons. Sorry, but I find the setup could really be improved. I suspect the users have never used anything ...

  • Re: Re:Timeline scrubber speed

Why a workaround instead of fixing the problem? Win10 has many more keystrokes to do the same thing that Win7 did in one. They probably have a reason like moving towards iPhones but it does not make for a useful computer. PS25: The delete is right next to the split icon, The single step is right next to the skip button. I can live with it ...

  • Re: Re:What media to use for movies?

Thanks for the replies. I agree with you Richard and plan on using mechanical Western Digital USB external hard drives. 2T and 4T are affordable. There are other brands I don't trust. I use SSDs in my computer but don't trust them for long term storage. Time will tell. Apparently mechanical HDD should have low write cycles so use a new one, not a ...

  • Timeline scrubber speed

I find places to edit by dragging the scrubber to the right PAST the end of the timeline. This finds scenes rapidly. A habit from PS14. I find it very slow in PS20 and PS25, less than x8 speed, but if I drag it left PAST the end of the timeline it is very fast. I could edit from the end of the movie back to the beginning, but this is ...

  • What media to use for movies?

What media should I be using to store and view my movies? · How stable are the dyes on a writeable DVD, Dual Layer DVD, and BlueRay. · Non dye DVDs are not practical to make yourself. ...
