  • Re: Video editing options

Tony P:Magix's VPx series is a more upscale program designed for the real prosumer/pro editors that use codec that the consumer programs for the most part do not even have. How many consumers are out there using ProRes, XDCAM, and DVCPro? Sure, there are some, but the majority of consumers have their consumer camcorders. I would get the ...

  • Studio 17.1 and 4K - paying lipservice but fundamentaly rubbish.

A patch for Studio 17 was released yesterday (16th January) although apparently none of the moderators were told about it. It claims to be the patch that implements 4K in Studio, a feature that was promised in the pre-sales information to be available in a patch in ''December 2013'' I've been testing this new patch and my initial impressions are ...

  • Re: Studio 17.02 Export problems

So the advice they gave you was correct and the phrase ''one has to copy individual clips and paste them.'' was one of your own. It may have been that you hadn't made the timeline active by clicking on a clip and ensuring that it was selected first, but following the above advice does select all the timeline clips on my installation. Perhaps you ...

  • Using Speed

What is the issue for you? Unlike S15 and earlier, the speed effect never adjusts the duration of a clip. You either have to use the ''stretch'' mode and then adjust the duration, or add a fixed speed ratio and then retrim the clip.

  • Re: COMPATABILITY

Studio 17 does have an option to import projects from S12. How well it will work may depend on the complexity of the project. I wouldn't count on it being able to preserve anything to do with menus. Audio changes, effects and titles may have issues as well. There is supposed to be a trial version out in the near future, and if you aren't aware of ...

  • Re: RE: Master File,Lossless Export

I don't have Premeire Pro, so I don't know what options it has, and I also don't know your workflow. Are you are making montages for further editing in Premier? In that case you could try Uncompressed AVI, but its not just the size of storage that makes those files a problem, its the fact that they can rarely be played back in real time. If you ...

  • Re: Unlocking an avi file

It's more likely that you don't have the codec for what is in the AVI - they can hold virtually any type of video. Are mp4 and h.264 unlocked on your system? Check the contents of the AVI with Mediainfo or suchlike. Will it play in Windows Media Player?

  • Re: S16U not able to read .ts files?

Depends on what's in the transport stream - they are normally mpeg-2. You might just need to rename them.

  • Re: Betreft: Buying HD Camcorder

F.Zwarts:it seems that AVCHD is too complex for smart rendering.Studio 17 is attempting to implement Smart render for AVCHD/H.264. They aren't there yet. Other NLEs offer it, although I'm not sure how successful they all are. If I was making an important project, I wouldn't trust smartrender to get it right.
