    PS26 26.2.0.298 Bug?

    Hi group,

I've been super impressed with the latest update. The glitchy timeline behavior has been corrected and the overall performance on the timeline when playing back 4k video at 1/2 preview res. with the green screen plug applied is much smoother!

This is the update that shows me that the Dev team is focusing on the right things and that they are serious about correcting and optimizing Pinnacle Studio.

I think I've run into a bug in the program while using mcam files in my project.

After creating the mcam file and importing into my timeline if I open the mcam file with the sub editor (not the multi cam editing utility) to edit the tracks inside it several times over a course of the editing session.... I lose the ability to call up the context menu while hovering over the tracks (all the way to the left side) via a mouse click in both the sub editor and the main timeline editor after closing out the mcam file by the named tab.

This is the  context menu that has the add tracks, delete track, change height etc.... you know the context menu I'm talking about.  This happens in the sub editor and the main timeline editor as well. If I start the PS26 over and reopen the project  I'm able to access the track context menu (via a mouse click) but the moment I start using the sub editor for the mcam file I lose the ability to call up the track context menu (via the mouse click) all over again.

EDIT: I also tried this with the previous version (238) and I get the same issue.

Can any of you verify this behavior ?

     Regards

    Hi,

Anyone using PS26 and the latest update able to confirm this buggy behavior?

    Regards

    Re: PS26 26.2.0.298 Bug?

I read you post, but the weekends are extremely busy for me.

This week, the FIBA 3v3 basketball is also in town with games every day,  I'd have to set up a MC project. In addition, AMD released a new graphics driver that is very problematic, so I have figure out what works and what doesn't. One thing I don't like is doing this. It takes a while to just uninstall and reinstall going into Safe Mode.

I hope someone can confirm/deny what is happening on your computer. If I get the time, I'll give it a go.

    Thanks Tony!

In the meantime I'm going to make a video of the issue and try and get it to Corel tech support.

It's a real problem that needs to be addressed but based on the frequency of the updates, if it is indeed an issue with PS we probably won't be seeing a fix anytime soon.

FWIW I don't want it to carry over into PS27 if Corel does indeed release a PS27!

Thanks for the video. I'll give it a go tomorrow.
Our town has been hosting the FIBA 3v3 basketball, so that is where I've been.

    Re: PS26 26.2.0.298 Bug?

    What I did.

Created 4 30sec clips with the same music but various lengths.

    Did the MC project.

On main timeline, created a nested project with other clips.

Opening the nested project, the context menu appears on the tracks as shown in your video.

Open the MCE, and back to the Nested, and nope.... the context menu no longer appears.

If possible, can you leave the video online?

And yes, this is a bug. You have to exit PS and restart to get the context menus back when you open the Nested project.

    Re: PS26 26.2.0.298 Bug?

Sure!  I will leave it online and thanks for verifying this!

Corel tech support did get back with me last night and asked for some sys info files etc... and I will be providing whatever they need to assist with the solution.

I was pleasantly surprised with the audio sync capabilities of the multicam utility but unfortunately this issue with the track context menus pretty much makes the mcam files a no go for me at this time.

I did find a temp workaround which is to 'save as" the mcam file/parts as a nested movie and just dump the mcam file after that. My mcam files are very simple at this time with a Karaoke video track with camara audio and a final mix of the music/Vocals on a single audio track that I sync with multicam  and then go from there...

I can imagine a serious multicamera project would be hamstrung by this bug.... I'm surprised that no one had mentioned it before because I found the same behavior in .238 as well.

     Tony,

You've been around Pinnacle for a while..... what are the odds of a hotfix for this prior to PS27 in you opinion?

    Regards

    Re: PS26 26.2.0.298 Bug?

The Multicam Editor is great. Sync's up audio and video with a press of a button. Love it when I have to do a multicam edit.

But I've never worked with it in a Nested Project, and haven't done a multicam project in a long long time. The person I was doing music videos for left the country.

I agree, not even a serious MC project would be not happy. Just having a MC project by itself and opening it causes the issue.

As for a hotfix, I have zero idea. I don't have PS24 installed to see if the bug exists there, but I am guessing so, but as you can read in the forums or on the Facebook groups, no one has posted this. Guess multicam editing isn't done much.

Keep us up to date if you get an answer from Support.

    Smaller than Planck's length.

    Re: PS26 26.2.0.298 Bug?

According to the theory of quantum physics, nothing can be smaller than Planck's length.

My advice : do not hold your breath until such a hot fix is released.

Quite true. A builder never uses less than one planck on his scaffolding.
