    PS25U 5.1 Surround/Stereo Panner Volume Issue

I was testing the new 5.1 surround control enhancements and the first time I created a keyframe it caused the volume level to drop both on the timeline and when exported 15-20 db in my estimate. Just simply changing from the default Center channel off to 5.1 or Dialog Mode creates a keyframe and the volume level drops. Is anyone else experiencing this? Thanks.

I agree that it still does not work after the update. I have had an open ticket with Corel on this issue since 9/14/2021 and I have not had any communication from them since 10/14/2021, which was basically engineering is working on it and I will let you know when i hear something.HMMM!Zip it!

Sorry you are having this problem also but thanks for letting me know it is just not me with the issue.

    Re: PS25U 5.1 Surround/Stereo Panner Volume Issue

Yes I am experiencing this.  It appears that the rear channels on the panner are not working.  As you move the blue dot toward the rear the volume gets lower and lower.  If you put the dot at the front channels it is full volume.  I also outputed this to and MP4 and noticed nothing coming out of the rear channels regardless of where the dot is.  There has been a ticket on this since early December 2021.  I checked on it in mid January 2022 and was told the engineers are working on it.  Have not heard anything since.  This is an obvious bug which at least for me prevents me from using Studio 25.  So I am back to using 22 with no issues.

    Re: PS25U 5.1 Surround/Stereo Panner Volume Issue

I do not have a surround sound speaker system, but do have a 7.1 USB headphone.

Adjusting the panner to the rear speakers with the headphones on, I can hear the stereo signal, but the volume is very very low.

I do not have any 5.1 material to test and do not see a way to increase the rear speaker volume.

    Re: PS25U 5.1 Surround/Stereo Panner Volume Issue

I can reproduce here - I don't have any multichannel-capable speakers/headphones but can see the issue simply by loading an exported 5.1 PCM sound file into Audacity.

Added a stereo sound having peak level approx. -3dB to Studio's timeline, adjusted the panner to move that sound completely to the rear speakers.

When exported and opened in Audacity, all 6 channels were seen - audio was present on the rear channels but the level was extremely low (matching what Tony observed using his headphones); peak amplitude around -34dB!

    Regards,
    Richard

    Re: PS25U 5.1 Surround/Stereo Panner Volume Issue

For me it is more than the rear speakers. When I select a video clip on the timeline and then open the 5.1 Surround/Stereo Panner, adding a keyframe either manually at the bottom of the Panner or changing the mode in the dropdown at the top of the Panner (which adds a keyframe) reduces the volume of the whole clip in all speakers substantially.

The last communication I had from Corel they said: "Our engineering team has been working on your issue - you provided excellent detail that helped us investigate. There have been some improvements in internal test builds, but the improvements are not released yet. As soon as they are, I will advise."

That communication was December 16, 2021 just after the 25.0.2.276 version release where it was still not working. I just updated to the new release (25.1.0.345) and it is still not working. Must be a huge problem.Confused

    Re: PS25U 5.1 Surround/Stereo Panner Volume Issue

I am still experiencing all the problems with the Surround sound as listed above.  I have now updated to the latest release of 25.1.0.345 and it is still the same problem.  Does anyone at Corel look at these, or are we just talking to ourselves?  Seems like this should have been solved by now.  Program is useless to me without surround sound.  I guess it is time to look for another vendor.

Just tried here - and the answer is "no, it is not fixed"

    1. Placed a stereo WAV file containing a 1kHz tone at a level of -3dB onto the timeline
    2. Opened the panner and dragged to move the sound completely to the rear speakers
    3. Exported as audio only, PCM, 5.1 multichannel; the sound is heard on the rear speakers only, but still at an extremely low level (measured in Audacity as approx -36dB)!

I can also confirm it has not been fixed in PS26U.

Just tried 5.1 with my 7.1 headphones, and it's still there..... bummer if you are doing this type of work.

Yes it is a bummer especially since I opened a ticket with Corel 9/14/2021 and they refused to respond to my inquires for a status update on my open ticket after 12/16/2021.

Suggestion. And I know it's a pain. Download the TRIAL of PS26.

Try the panner and then make another bug report to Corel and see what they say.

    Re: PS25U 5.1 Surround/Stereo Panner Volume Issue

I already bought PS26U. There is enough benefits to me to keep PS26U even though this issue still exits. It obviously is not an important issue for them to apply resources to fixing the problem in the last year. I just find it frustrating that support just decides to stop communicating with me on the issue even though they acknowledged I provided sufficient examples and they fully understood the issue. I will submit a new new online support ticket soon.

In my tests, the new patch 26.1.0.238 has fixed this issue. Thanks Corel.
