Have raised this issue with PS themselves, but thought I would ask here also as I may get a quicker reply.

Just upgraded to PS25U, installation went smoothly, no errors. But upon trying to start the new application, I get the opening splash image as it goes through the loading and initialisation process, but a few seconds after the main editing window appears, it then closes.

Have tried a reboot, but no change.

PS24U still starts and runs fine, so what changed with PS25U?

I'm using Win10 which is up to date.

Any thoughts most appreciated.

Hi and welcome to the forum...

One possibility for the crashing is that Studio 25 might have "misfired" when it tried to build its library/effects database for the first time, and has left it in a strange state. So one thing to try is removing it and letting Studio have another go at creating it...

Locate the folder C:\Users\<your user name>\AppData\Local\Pinnacle_Studio_25 and either rename it or delete it and its contents. (Note: the AppData folder is a hidden folder - so you may need to change the Windows File Explorer settings to show hidden files and folders. Then try launching Studio 25 again and see if it launches and does not crash. If all is well, leave it until it has finished building the library/effects database before trying to do any editing (takes several minutes - when it's finished the CPU and disk activity will drop bck to a low level).

Check the installation of Net Framework 4.8. It is located in the Studio installation folder ..... PinnacleStudio25 \ 64bit \ Prerequisites 

I have a same problem. Noticing that it try to open for some reason a project called "The-Sky-is-the-Limit_PS25.Movie.AXP. I Find that AXP file and double click it -> PS25U opened and this time let me choose that Cancel project and start new project.

Then it seems working until I closed and tried to launch again. Same problem but different project. Once again, open through that project file. problem is still existing, but can open PS25U by clicking project file. Solutions still needed. Removing folder (culpanr hint) did not help. NetFramework 4.8 (vovan hint) not yet tested.

I checked from win register and there is mentioned version 4.8.04084, so it should be latest (and last) version.

Thank you for the suggestions, have deleted the suggested folder, but still crashes.

Next I checked the version of NET framework, it is also at 4.8.04084.

So, the issue remains. 

Have just sent the two system overview files to Corel they requested, so shall see what they think it is.

Will keep you posted on progress. :) 

Ok having recently installedPS25U on my new PC I was having a similar problem to this & finnaly seemed to have cured it this morning, by going into control panel deleting all the render files in the storage locations page, and then in preview and export set optimization to about 10 and playback quality to best.

All is now good

I had to delete the hidden appdata Studio file today. Issues with video thumbnails not correct. Once I did that, so far all is well....

Installed PS25U 2 days ago but anytime I try to start it, there is a some "... not closed correctly"  but it disappears so quickly that I can't see the whole message, nor can I intervene.

I have tried the deleting hidden files in the AppData folder and the changing in the control panel: no cure.

Only way to start (thanks to JPJU) it doubleclicking on a .....Movie.AXP  file. Then I can work in PS25U.

..... but it shouldn't be that way... it should start by clicking on the icon as other programs do.

Well Corel have not been much help, they just sent me a link for the complete install file.

 Tried installing with it, same result.

The weird thing is that I cannot find the .....movie.axp file anywhere to see if I can start it that way.

I carried out a complete install. Where should it be located please. 

There is a program that you can use to uninstall PS25. It will do a registry check/clean, then a folder check/remove. It's called Revo Uninstaller FREE. I have the pro version, but the free is good. It will back up your registry before you delete things. It will prompt you if you want to delete the remaining folders.

Then restart and install PS25.

Thank you for trying to help glus, but in the end, tech support have conceded they were unable to get it to work and have granted a full refund.

This ends a long relationship with Studio, since Studio 7, my current PC has been alive since 2011 and ran all versions since then fine, so something has changed with Studio 25.

Would go back to Studio 24, but no longer have the installation package.

I have the same problem with PS25 that I just purchased. It appears the problem has not been corrected yet.

For some yes, but others no, as was in my case. What made it harder was not dealing with the same tech person and a lot of it was repeated.

It was not included because it could not be reproduced by developers. When a suggestion to resolve raises up, most people don't bother to reply. Difficult in these conditions to nail down the cause of the problem.

hanks for the reply, assume it's been reported now. That this will be fixed in the next Patch/fix. Is very inconvenient when there is an update. Not everyone knows how to do it.
