Yann very kindly helped me to produce a Blu-ray disc using PS23, which would not output one. I now have a further question.

The picture quality on the Blu-ray, using img burn to burn it, is hardly any better than the DVD that I output from the same timeline material. I used Mpeg2 and Best Quality as my settings. Would H264 have been better? Are there any other tweaks that can be made to get a better result? 

h. 264 should be significantly better for the same bitrate. I assume that the Blu-ray disc setttings were for HD, (as was the source material and timeline settings) and its not the resolution that's the issue but the blockiness and movement rendition?

Yes Jeff, the source material and timeline were HD and Blu-ray was at 1080p. I will try another with h.264. The movement looks fine. It is just the image quality compared to the DVD. I was expecting a significant difference, whereas the only perceptible improvement seemed to be the graphics.

I seem to be having the same trouble as before using img Burn. I get as far as producing the disc but when I ok it, I get an I/O error and a message 'invalid address to write'. I only have the one Blu-ray drive on my computer and so I cannot understand why img burn sometimes thinks it is invalid. The trouble is, each time it happens ir destroys a Blu-ray disc as in is no longer classified as blank. I have already destroyed another 3 discs in attempting to create a Blu-ray.

 

Some of your physical disks might be defective.

It is a new pack that I have just opened Yann. is it really likely that so many of them would be faulty? I will try another pack.

Tried a new pack of discs also a different brand but with the same result. So far I have had nine attempts at burning a Blu-ray and only one has worked.

 

Would you believe it? I decided to try using PS24 to burn the Blu-ray and it worked in there. No accounting for logic. I was not expecting a different result than from  PS23 which I had used to create the project originally.
