    Using Handbrake

    Hello All,

I have some DVDs that need re-editing but Studio 23 Ult does not support import of VIDEO_TS folders or the VOB files in it. I'm contemplating converting these videos to .avi or some other format for import. I've tried using Handbrake and was able to drop the VIDEO_TS folder into it and starts the re-code process. However, it only re-coded one file. Does anybody on the forum know if Handbrake can re-code the whole folder as a complete video. And if so, will things like menus be retained.

    Regards

    Tony

Yes it does. I mean ... PS23 is designed to support them.

How did you try to import them ?

    Hello Saby

Thank you for your reply. The methods I have tried is to select the Import tab and locate the folder/files and drag the folder into the created panel. I have also tried the individual .vob files. I get a response the file format is not supported. (or something like that.) It does surprise me somewhat as Studio created them in the first place in the create DVD section.

I look forward to your explanation of my error, for I'm sure that is what it is.

    Regards

    Tony

    Re: Re:Using Handbrake

In the Importer, click the DVD/Bluray tab and select the DVD drive where your DVD is present. Studio will scan it and display the Titles available. Select one Title and launch import. It will produce a Mpeg2 file.

Saby, thank you very much. I'll give that a try tomorrow.

    Hello Saby

Thanks again for that info. It worked just fine. I asked Pinnacle Support the question about VIDEO_TS this is their reply. Very helpful I must say. Just goes to show we need to know who the experts are, don't we?

Thanks for raising this to us.  I have shared with the Support team, so there can be a group communication to all support agents, clarifying this.  Maybe they were not well-informed about the Import DVD workflow in the Importer.
