This is weird...

I have a MP3 file that a) plays just fine by itself, b) I shows as a good waveform on AV track1, c) track not muted...

BUT, the audio track won't play through my PC speakers once it is inserted onto the timeline; either the source window or timeline window.... 

I've rebooted the PC,  etc to no avail....

The source MP3 file is PCM, 16 bit stereo, etc

I feel like an idiot....

The MASTER system volume/mute under the p[review window was MUTED....Grrr

Nope, been there done that< I've also had cases where for some reason just studio has got muted in there
