    Alpha Cannel Problem

I don't know if this is a Win 10 or PS23/24 problem. I am just now coming over to win 10 from win 7 and don't know squat about win 10. Problem is that in win 7 PS23 would play the videos from Digital Juice .mov with alpha channel with no problems. Alpha channel worked fine. QuickTime 7.2 installed. Same with Paint Shop Pro png files with alpha. But now in win 10 neither PSU23 or PSU24 will show the alpha channel in any of the Digital Juice videos (transitions, overlays, elements) that worked fine in win 7. I have QuickTime 7.2 now upgraded to 7.7.9 The videos play in QuickTime but no way I know of to tell if Alpha channel is there. png files with Alpha channel work fine if they are created in 3DPaint or PhotoSissors but not Paint Shop Pro. Pics and video with alpha created in PSU24 work fine but Digital Juice .mov videos will not even import.

MOV files made on an Apple computer might be H.265.  If so, you will need to install the Windows 10 HEVC drivers from the Microsoft store.  It's $0.99 in their store.

It was built into Windows 7, 8, and 8.1.

    Re: Alpha Cannel Problem

I final found a solution to this problem. I don't know what the issue was that prevented .mov files with Alpha channel to be imported to PSU 23 & 24 newly installed on a new win 10 desktop machine but the fix was installing Corel VideoStudio 19. The .mov with alpha files with a PNG and ProRes video format will now import and work as intended ( either with watchfolders or dropping on timeline ). Many Many thanks to Tony P for getting me thinking in the right direction. The .mov with JPG video format will import but no transparency. PSU 23 & 24 can sometimes behave like a spoiled child needing a spanking and knowing the right paddle to use can be problematic.

Installing quick time player will also do the job

    Re: Alpha Cannel Problem

Glad you are back up and running.

I had VS2019 installed but to make room for VS2020 and to free up some hard drive space, I removed it. I also have other editors that work with alpha channels, in addition to having QuickTime installed (but not for the browser), so really can't say which one is the cause of me being able to use imported videos with alpha channels.

Now, if Pinnacle can get it's "performance" act together where everything you do causes a momentary pause, making small adjustments painful, I'll be a happy camper for the moment.

Not for me as it was already installed and updated.
