    PS24 Titler

I am still trying to get to grips with the fundamentally different way that the titler is operated in PS24. Now that everything is done within the preview window rather than in a selected new specific window, I am finding it difficult to navigate my way around the various functions. If for example, I add a graphic to a title, is there a way of doing it without locating it on a different track above the main title? If not, how do I then save the title so that it retains the inserted graphic when I next want to use it? I imagine that I will get used to it eventually, but so far, I did prefer the old way of constructing titles, unless of course I am missing something.

EDIT Worked out how to import a graphic now. I guess I will slowly become used to this new way of doing things.

Thanks for reporting back. The basics are still the same as before.

Yes they are Tony. It is the process of finding where they are that is the challenging bit. New concepts tend the throw me, particularly when the methodology in respect of the titler has been the same throughout so many versions.

Don't feel bad Bob, they throw me too for a while until I learn where everything is and how it works.

I do like not having to leave the edit tab and do everything there. It just takes some getting used to.

    Re: PS24 Titler

I have now come across something that I cannot find how to do. I am alright in adding a picture file when one is already present, but how do I initiate a new graphic image (picture) when constructing a title that does not already have one, as the box to click in does not come up.

I'm not sure I follow you.

Are you referring to the Background Settings in the Text Editor?

    Hi Tony

No, not background settings as that covers the entire screen. What I want to do is to import a logo of a football club and place it where i want it on the previously created title (say a rectangle). I am able to do this with old titles that I am amending as there is a box called 'fill' that appears containing the logo that I want to replace, but that box is not there if no logo previously existed on that title. I have removed the logo to be replaced but left it there for you to see. This was in the square yellow box. If you look to the left you will see the fill box which contains the old logo that I moved. Clicking in the 'fill' box allows me to select another logo from those that I have on file. It is when there is no exisiting logo that the 'fill' box does not appear. I can get the 'fill' box to appear if the title is created from scratch, but not if adding to a previously created title that does not already have an imported picture.

    Re: PS24 Titler

Right, I think I have sorted this one following a bit of experimentation. If the existing title concerned has no text applied to it, then the 'fill' box cannot be accessed. Therefore it is necessary to create some text to make it appear. Once the logo has been imported the text can then be deleted. It is a little odd that one has to firstly create something that is not wanted in order to be able to introduce something that is.

    Re: PS24 Titler

You could insert a Shape Layer and then use the image you wish to use as a fill.

Yes, I could, but the process would be the same in selecting something I did not want and then deleting it.

    Re: PS24 Titler

I am still having problems in attempting to insert an image/logo onto a title. I have tried selecting a shape layer and then importing the image via the fill box but when applied, the imported logo distorts itself to the shape of the layer. How can I import a logo into an existing title and retain it's proportions?

    Re: PS24 Titler

Have resolved it at last. I have found a drop down box within the shape layer that permits adding a Library asset. I still find it an odd place to put it as it has no bearing on inserting a shape, but at least I can now do it.

Cheers for that, however if you right click in the titler itself & select insert shape that option isn't there........

    Re: PS24 Titler

That's clearly an omission / bug.

    Clearly a bug.

There is some learning that has to happen with some of the new implementations of the title editor.

Overall though, I do like the way I don't have to leave the timeline.

I agree, it fits in more with the new work flow layout.  Now we just have to get the bugs out.

Hi Tony, yeah a definite bug, I've a lot of learning to do throughout 24 as it's been ages since I've done any editing, really going to try and get back into it

    Martin,

It's different learning now and then with the new introduction of the software, some things are broken on release. But Pinnacle has done a good job of getting things ironed out....

Editing is something I do to keep the brain active.

You'll get the hang of it and be up to speed in no time!

Trying to follow the New PS 24 Title Tutorial Part 2 from Studio Backlot and Studio crash almost every time.

    Any body having similar problem?

    Re: PS24 Titler

The new titler didn't crash on me doing basic titles, but did crash numerous times if I was using keyframes and put an effect on the title to make it look wavy(underwater).  The work around was to remove the effect while making changes to the title, then adding the effect after.  It exports fine.  Just didn't like doing keyframes with an effect on it.

That is exactly what I was working on Studio.

    Thank you.

    Re: PS24 Titler

Then yes, there are some serious issues/crashes  when editing a title when combined with an effect.  It was getting very frustrating.  I was editing 4k clips.  It didn't seem to have an effect on the number of crashes if I changed the project timeline between 4k and 1080p.

I'm hoping the first patch/update is coming soon.....  I've kind of stopped using it for now.  The frustration kind of kills my creativeness.
