PS24 seems like it can get a little busy

    Attachment: Wait Message.jpg

Using PS24 over the last couple hours with some 4K 59.94fps GoPro clips on a 1920x1080 29.97 timeline with position and size properties and color white balance corrections on the clips cause the Blue Swirl/circle cursor to display when over PS24, PS24 to go grey/white, and the attached Message box to pop up.  If you click wait, after a couple minutes, PS24 returns to its normal state and you can continue editing. It has done this 5 or 6 times now.

Well, almost.  PS24 just crashed and closed.  BG Renderer is still running using 43.8% of the CPU.

With BG Renderer still running in Task Mgr, I was able to click on PS24 and it opened?  The progress bar on the timeline just kept turning Green right where it left off?  NG Studio is using 42% CPU, and BG Renderer is using 40%.  It is slowly completing the rendering of the project.  Very interesting that it can recover and continue on rendering.

Well, maybe not, it just crashed again.  BG Renderer is still running using 42.2% of the CPU.

Ended BG Renderer task in Task Mgr.  CPU down to 1%, GPU 1%.

    I give up for tonight.

I guess my question would be, is this something new or do you experience the same issue with PS23?

With the installation on my computer, it takes a LONG time for all the assets, databases and thumbnails to be built.

Once PS is installed and you launch it, unless everything is built, that could happen. I sat and did something else besides watching "the paint to dry".  I knew it was done with all my "stuff" was there listed, and all the thumbnails appeared in the Library.

Something new to PS24.  Much more cpu usage when making changes on the time line than PS23.  I haven't noticed any rendering performance increase on 4k yet.

I did notice a performance increase on 4k time remapping when it's not rendering in the strange slow mode.  It use to take 4-5 seconds to render a 20 second clip.  Now only takes 2-3 seconds to render the same clip.

This is after that.  I also walked away and waited for all to be built and the cpu usage to go down to nothing before I started using it.  PS24 seems really focused on giving background preview rendering a high priority.  Intel i9 Cpu & gpu usage is up from PS23 when background rendering.

How is the GH5s 10bit video working?

Good idea.  I shot two clips with my gh5s last week.  They were time lapse shots. A day time and a night time.  I'll look and see if I had a video codec selected that supports 10 bit.

I didn't convert it to 10 bit, only 8.  Next time.

Re: PS24 seems like it can get a little busy

PS24 getting busy issue fixed.  I updated the Intel GPU Driver to the latest version and PS24 is snappy now.  Very Snappy!  Went from 3% - 20% Intel GPU usage to 70%-80% Intel GPU Usage when background rendering and Exporting.  A lot less BG Render for preview files with Playback Opt set at 50.  4K 60fps video clips scrub like 1080p video clips used to in PS23.

A very nice speed improvement over PS23.
