    DJI video fps wrong

I just bought the pinnacle 23 ultimate. I'm having problems with DJI Mavic Air 2 videos, that are at 29.97fps. The video studio shows they are 29fps and the playback is horrible(twitching every second). Also the video after export is bad. Somehow the videostudio isn't recognizing the framerate. If I use 25fps with my drone it works fine. I also run the clip through converter, and made the output video with same fps etc. I then imported the converted video and the framerate is now correct and playback works just fine.So I can get around the problem by convertin all the footage, but that takes extra time.. Contacted the corel support but they don't even seem to know where are all the settings in the program :D  Is there an external codec that I could use to fix this or something?

    Re: DJI video fps wrong

    Welcome to the forum!

First, how about finishing filling out your user profile, especially the computer specs. See mine below for an example

Second, did you let the timeline render? What are you Export and Preview settings?

Is in Project settings, a check mark on Detect Format from First Clip? If so, did you put a title first on the timeline? If that is the case, there is your problem.

    Is the video 4K? 1080? 2.7K?

What is your timeline setting? Click on the little "gears" on the upper left of the timeline toolbar.

Pinnacle will play back 29.97 correctly. It's in the settings.

You can force timeline setting to 29.97 fps :

    Re: DJI video fps wrong

Thanks for you reply, I will fill in the specs.

I did let the timeline render and the format is detected from the first clip and the clip is the only thing on the timeline while I tested it. It is 1080 29.97fps but like I said it shows only 29fps on the display information window. I tried to export it like 20 different ways and the result is the same. Also without adding the clip to the timeline and playing the clip is bad. The converted video plays just fine in preview and added to timeline(it shows 29.97 fps on the display information window). Tried to force the timeline to different formats but it does not fix the problem.  I know it will play 29.97 correctly since the converted video works. I think's there just something related to the codec that the videostudio sees the clip as 29fps tho it really is 29.97..

I tested my oneplus pro7 videos, they sometimes have 30.5fps or 29.9fps, the fps always appears correctly in videostudio. and play smoothly. I did test few other 29.97 fps DJI videos and the playback is the same so the file isn't damaged.

You mention VideoStudio.... not the right user forum.

Do you have a sample of your problematic video that you can upload to the cloud to be tested?

Sorry, I meant pinnacle studio, not video studio.

    Here is one clip:

Shows 29fps on pinnacle and 29.97 in windows and plays badly in pinnacle.

No playback issue on my wife's laptop and PS23 with your video.

I downloaded the file. In Pinnacle, Display info does say 29fps, but if you look at the Timeline settings, it is 29.97fps. If you export the file with Same as timeline check marked, the exported file is 29.97 using MediaInfo.

As for playback... no problems here either.

    Re: DJI video fps wrong

Yes the timeline is 29.97 but I can't get exported smooth video no matter what I do. Here's a clip i just quickly made, without converting the video before adding to pinnacle

    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oXG0hukGpM8

See how the video jumps every second. When I convert the clips to exactly the same specs that the original have, they work on pinnacle, show 29.97fps and export smooth video.

    Re: DJI video fps wrong

Something is odd with this video. It's 30fps but the GOP length is 29.

It's pretty unusual (very long GOP) and should be either 15 or 30, but not 29.

Can you record in MP4 instead of MOV?

I tried both mov and mp4, same thing.

    Re: DJI video fps wrong

Curious... the Air 2 drone is on my "list" when I get some free money.

What resolution are you shooting in?

This VIDEO  was shot with a Mavic Mini at this resolution 2.7 K: 2720×1530 30p. My friend wanted to know if PS23 could work with it. The exported video (after some color correcting) is in 4K.

    Re: DJI video fps wrong

I use 1080 30fps mostly, since my other camera is fixed to 30fps. Sometimes I use 2.7k or 4k if I need to do some zooming in the video. Like I said earlier, at least the 25fps mavic air 2 video works just fine in pinnacle.

That mini video looks smooth. Did it show 29.97fps in the display information screen or just 29fps like the air 2 clip?

Here's small clip I made, first clip is straight from mavic air and the second is run through video converter that can be downloaded for free in win10(converted it to exactly same than the source clip is). See how smooth the second clip is? I guess im stuck to just convert all my air 2 clips before editing..

    Attachment: MediaInfo DJI.jpg

Screen shot below gives you all the info. It shows as 29.97 in Pinnacle and MediaInfo.

Yeah I can't get that with air 2 clips. Bummer.
