Capture Video button does not appear

I am using PS23 ultimate. When I click on the Import tab, all of the buttons appear like DVD, My Computer, etc. However the Capture Video  button does not exist.

    Has anyone ever experienced this?

Do you have any capture device connected to your PC ?

Re: Capture Video button does not appear

Not currently. I am adding a IEEE 1394 card so that I can connect my Canon DV camera via dv to 1394.

Re: Capture Video button does not appear

So no capture device connnected = no capture button displayed.

OK, That's actually good to hear. Hopefully when The new card gets installed and I connect the camera, this will all go away.

    Thank you

Re: Capture Video button does not appear

    OK Guys,

I installed the IEEE1394 card and when I connected my camera and had the video playing, I opened the Import tab and I still did not have a capture video button! Tech support just sent me new directions for uninstalling PS23 and then PS22. Then they want me to run a regdelete .exe for PS. They provided a link then for downloading and installing PS23 again.  What do you guys think about the capture video button still not showing up after connecting the camera and then what tech support wants me to do?  I am at a total loss of direction now.

Re: Capture Video button does not appear

Stop thinking that reinstalling and cleaning the registry might solve this problem.

Before that, let's see if you're not facing a driver issue with the IEEE1394 card or something like. Install this small tool :http://paul.glagla.free.fr/captureflux_en.htm

Does it see your camcorder and can you capture with it ?

Re: Capture Video button does not appear

Saby,  I'm not thinking that reinstalling and cleaning the registry is the way to go. I told Tech support to close my ticket and thats when they sent me those instructions. I will try the driver suggestion you made. I'm thinking it could be a driver issues as well.

Re: Capture Video button does not appear

I got to the web site. I"m very hopeful I will be able to capture video clips from my camera and from a DVD with this tool.

Can't wait to try it tomorrow. Thanks

Re: Capture Video button does not appear

This now is extremely frustrating. I take one step forwards and 2 steps back. I started by properly installing the legacy driver for the IEEE1394 board. Low and behold PS recognized my camera and gave me the capture video screen. When I hit play on the camera, PS hung and would not display the video in the preview window . The error message was that NG studio was not responding. I am going through a process of elimination to determine what steps work and what doesn't. That's why I haven't tried the Paul Gagla process .

Now today, PS would not even recognize the camera at all. Getting ready to pull my hair out! Can anybody help?

Re: Capture Video button does not appear

Just use another program. Besides CaptureFlux, DV can easily be recorded by Scenalyzer http://www.scenalyzer.com/  or WinDV http://windv.mourek.cz/

    I used Scenalyzer recently.

Re: Capture Video button does not appear

Thanks Andy, I had a feeling using another program was going to be a better solution. I will try sceneanalyzer and let you know how it went.

I give up on this one ...

Why don't you try Captureflux as advised ?

Re: Capture Video button does not appear

CaptureFlux is my next attempt to do this. Sceneanalyzer web site was very confusing and didn't offer a solution. I couldn't tell what they were selling.

I'm finding out that Windows 10 does not handle video very well for some reason.

I'll let you know how CaptureFlux goes.

    Thanks

Re: Capture Video button does not appear

    Saby,

My heart be still !  I have arrived at the exact sequence that I have to perform and then the capture video button appears, and allows me to capture the clips I want to use.

You have to have the Legacy driver installed for the IEEE 1394 card to work properly.

I upgraded the connection cable to a high grade cable.

I have to have the camera powered on and then connect the 1394 cable for the computer to recognize the camera.

I then open Pinnacle and open my movie.

I then click on the import button and the camera appears on the menu and is highlighted. The capture video screen is displayed and the controls in the preview window will control the playing if the video.

Everything now works as advertised. YIPPEE !
