Import of .WAV files into Studio

    Hi All

Has anyone noticed old .wav files are not being imported into Pinnacle Studio Ult 23 after the latest patch? I have mp3 files that have imported in fine but for some reason all of the .wav files I try to import are just coming in as blank audio files. Looking at the properties the CODEC looks fine, sample rate is good and strangely the .wav files play perfectly fine outside of Pinnacle?

     Any help would be great.

    Hi Saby

Just tried to upload the .WAV file (it is 17MB) but something went wrong.

It's not possible to have it as an attachment to your post. Too heavy.

Can't you upload it on a file sharing site or in the cloud (Dropbox, GoogleDrive, OneDrive, ...) ?

Not just me then. In the meantime I have run the original files through audacity again and exported them to .wav files. They now work fine in Pinnacle so at least I have a work around.

Same here... no playback. So I started checking some of my other .wav files that I have used in past Pinnacle projects.

Some played back fine, others, the flat line.....

    I have no idea why.

But the .wav does play back in PS22.....

Re: Import of .WAV files into Studio

Hi, I have been reading through all the replies. I have actually had this problem as well. But I am making a wild guess here. My wav files are either mixed down in Adobe Audition at 44100, 24 bit or come from my sony PCM recorder, also 44100, 24 bit. I noticed that Audacity exports the Windows WAV format in 16 bit. So maybe that has something to do with it.

So if I read one of my 24 bit WAV files into Audacity (which would show up blank in Pinnacle) and then export it as a Windows 16 bit WAV file, it is "accepted" by Pinnacle.

Like I said, a wild guess. But exporting them from Audacity works. The irony is that many of these movie files end up being posted on YouTube so all the trouble we go through mixing and producing fine audio tracks is shredded.

Re: Import of .WAV files into Studio

Hi and welcome to this forum.

Unfortunately it is not (only) a matter of bits depth. I encoded a 24 bits wav with audacity and it has audio in PS23.

By cons, if I export 32 bits FLOAT, like in the wav delivered by OP, there is no longer audio in PS23.
