Pinnacle Studio 23.2 patch killed the program

Yesterday, I got an in-program notice from Corel that a patch for Pinnacle Studio 23 (upgrading the program to v. 23.3.0.290) was available for download. After successfully downloading the patch, I rebooted my system and then attempted to run the program, but it hung on the opening screen before disappearing.

I've contacted Corel tech support for help, but they are apparently running a skeleton crew due to the pandemic, so who knows when they will get back to me. Anyone else encounter this problem? Even better, anyone have a fix?

    I'm running a Microsoft Surface Pro 7; Windows 10 Home v1909; 64 bit; 8GB RAM; Intel Core i5.

Re: Pinnacle Studio 23.2 patch killed the program

    Hello Saby.

Thanks. That fix does allow the program to open, but it is a limited workaround, because, as you know, each time you start the PS23 program, first you need to go into your file manager and rename the library file, which causes the library to reset, which means you lose everything in your project bin.

If a more permanent solution isn't available, then I would just like to revert to the previous version of PS (23.1?). I thought simply uninstalling and reinstalling from my backup files would do the trick, but when I reinstalled, the program apparently pulled the most-recent version from the Pinnacle site, thus replicating the problem version 23.2, instead of restoring 23.1. Any thoughts on how this might be accomplished?

    Thanks for your help!

You should not have to reset the library each time you want to open PS23.

Could you tell me if when PS23 refused to launch you saw this dialog box but in English ? Something saying "Intializing effects system. Please wait"

Hi Saby. Yes, when the program refused to launch, I was seeing the splash screen and an "initializing effects ..."  message that stayed onscreen for about 10 seconds before disappearing without the program loading.

Re: Pinnacle Studio 23.2 patch killed the program

    Hi All

New to the forum. I can confirm as well saby that the message appeared for me after I had to rename the 23.0 folder to 23.0.old just to get the new version running.

In addition I have also found, maybe, the cause of the software not starting after the update. I run on 3 monitors and always have my project timeline window on a separate monitor. This was how my software was setup prior to the update. Update carried out and then the software would not start. I did the reset of the folder and the software started no problem. I then re-positioned my windows as I like them on two monitors shut the software down and tried to re-open it. Same thing happened, it would not start and I had to do the reset of the folder again.

I have raised this with Pinnacle and I am awaiting a response from them.

     Hope this helps
