NewBlue Add-ons in Pinnacle Studio 18

I am running Pinnacle Studio 18 Ultimate, 64-bit, Version 18.6 in a Windows 10 environment. I've had the program for years but social distancing I am trying to catch up with vacation videos. Under Edit, Effects I am missing bullet 7: Add-ons. I've tried to re-install the components, Modify them, Delete and re-install. Nothing has worked. I can see the files in Studio 18/Plugins/RTFx but they do not appear on the Effects screen. I tried running the vstudio.exe that is suppose to solve the problem and got back 4 .dll errors: UlaProvider,u32Comm, uTimeCode and uAfxUnknown.I found 5 .exe on the NewBlue website but those seem to be for the new versions of NewBlue effects. Not the ones included in PS 18. Has anyone experienced the same problem and what was the solution?

    Thanks for any assistance.

What is a 'hard' reset? what do I have to do?

Re: NewBlue Add-ons in Pinnacle Studio 18

It sets PS18 at its release state : the database is brand new and should be clear of any issue.

    Rename C:\Users\Yourusername\AppData\Local\Pinnacle_Studio_18\Studio\18.0 to C:\Users\Yourusername\AppData\Local\Pinnacle_Studio_18\Studio\18.0.old

    Launch Studio

If the workaround failed, delete the newly created C:\Users\Yourusername\AppData\Local\Pinnacle_Studio_18\Studio\18.0 and rename C:\Users\Yourusername\AppData\Local\Pinnacle_Studio_18\Studio\18.0.old to C:\Users\Yourusername\AppData\Local\Pinnacle_Studio_18\Studio\18.0 and you roll back to previous situation.

Re: NewBlue Add-ons in Pinnacle Studio 18

Do I run all of the .exe files or just the 64-bit Content and 64-bit Bonus Content?

I've had so much trouble with this installation that I don't want to mess it up.

    Thanks

I misunderstand your instructions. I will change the files to old and restart the program.

Re: NewBlue Add-ons in Pinnacle Studio 18

Would it make any sense to reinstall? Is there any road map as to what or where these .dll files are suppose to be?  This vstudio.exe came from Corel with instructions on how to fix the problem. Unfortunately, the fix isn't working either.

Thanks for your assistance. I greatly appreciate the speed of your replies.

Hope all is well where you are and you are safe.

This is the very 1st time that I read that a vstudio.exe file could solve any problem with NB FX in Pinnacle Studio.

Hopefully, I'll hear back from NewBlue with a fix to my problem.

    Thanks.

Re: NewBlue Add-ons in Pinnacle Studio 18

I haven't tried this step yet but experimented with installing Pinnacle Studio + patches on a brand new machine and everything installed properly with all of the NewBlue effects. So, I obviously missed a step in the installation procedures. So I want to re-install but also want to make sure that I won't loose my current project and the collections,my Effects, etc that I created tor this project. So will renaming Studio\18.0 to .old save all of this or do I need to protect other file(s)?  Additionally, I am leaving my current location in a few weeks and want to continue with this project on a different computer. What files do I need to back-up to ensure that all the customization I've done can be transferred to my new machine? I am concerned with files that I'm not aware of on the C drive. The specific movie files and photos, music, video, etc. are already backed up as they are stored on a different drive.

Thanking you in advance for sharing your expertise.

If you reset the library you loose collections, My effects, tags, bins, ... but not your projects.

Re: NewBlue Add-ons in Pinnacle Studio 18

Do you know where that information is stored so I can back it up or put it on my transfer disc so I can continue my project on my other computer? Will my saved movies contain all the info I will need to finish combining all the movies into one?

    Thanks,

Re: NewBlue Add-ons in Pinnacle Studio 18

    What information ?

Even after a full library reset you still can open a previous project and continue editing. Nothing is lost in the project.

Re: NewBlue Add-ons in Pinnacle Studio 18

Will my fx Compositions be saved or do I need to back them up? Or are they saved in the .movie 1 files? I believe everything else I've customized is being backup.

    Thanks again.

Re: NewBlue Add-ons in Pinnacle Studio 18

You will have to import them like you would do for any asset if you wish to be able to re-use them.

But even if you don't import them, the effects previously applied to any asset in your project are still present.

Re: NewBlue Add-ons in Pinnacle Studio 18

I'll probably want to use them for future projects, so I will make sure to back them up. Anxious to re-install Pinnacle on my other system to see if all the elements are installed properly. Won't know for another 3 weeks. If I get my movie done before I leave to head back up north, I'll try re-installing Pinnacle on my current machine.

Again, I greatly appreciate your counsel and speedy responses.
