Help: Studio 23 crashes when starting up

    Hi,

I have recently made an upgrade from Studio 19 to Studio 23 Ultimate.

But having installed Studio 23 I can get I to run. The first time I can start the program and everything seems to work fine.

When I want to start it next time it got stuck on the start screen on 'init database' and closes down the program completely.

I have got several suggestion from Support form Corel, but nothing seems to help.

I can emtpy te temp-folder and rename the Pinnacle and Pinnacle Studio 23 folders in 'appdata' and then I can restart the program once, but the next time it is all the same all over again.

Is there anybody who recognise this problem and can help me with this?

Re: Help: Studio 23 crashes when starting up

When you first get the program to run, go to the control panel and see if Watch Folders are turned on. If they are, turn them off. This will stop Studio adding video to the library automatically, in case it is trying to load an incompatible file.

You cam also be a bit more seletive about which appdata folders you delete, which might help track down the problem -

    Hello,

    Thank you for your answer.

Because my program is in Dutch, I'm not quit sure witch button you mean with 'Watch Folders' but I guess that's the button on top of the control panel, right? (in Dutch 'Geanalyseerde mappen') They are already turned off.

So now I'm gonna try to experiment with your second suggestion.

Instellingen -> controlepaneel -> geanalyseerde mappen

I have been experiencing the same problem for months with Pinnacle taking over my machine but the only answer has been to start yet another account in Windows. This happened again today and I was about to complain again to the support desk when I found this post. Changed the appdata file name and yes success at last. Whent into my obsolete accounts did the same and yes Pinnacle 23 starts,  Only difference is I did not have the watch folders enabled.

The bottom line is now my Studio 23 now opens so thank you sincerely  for the advice.

    Hi,

Finally the problem seems to be solved.

I made a new local account on my computer, with administrator-rights.

On that account Studio 23 seems to work properly!

    Thank you all.

    Norbert
